How do you fit a deer in the back of a corvette??This is coming from a guy who only drove corvettes for the last 5 years.
first requirement of any vehicle I buy. "where will I put the deer?" if I can't answer that, I move on.How do you fit a deer in the back of a corvette??
I had a fj cruiser for 8 years. At the beginning I was hauling deer up into the back, and we even hauled my bear up into it. Once I shot a buck that was almost 200 pounds dressed, my brother and I struggled to get it up in there and I figured there was no way I could do it by myself. The hitch carriers intrigued me but I didn't want it to get in my way while I was getting ready in the back, so I found a front mount hitch. I traded in for a 4runner in the spring and a front mount hitch was my first purchase for it. I ride around with the carrier on the front all of hunting season. I get a lot of looks, but it works perfectly and it was one of my best ideas!first requirement of any vehicle I buy. "where will I put the deer?" if I can't answer that, I move on.
I have a lot of experience with ameristeps. I find them comfortable and easy to use. I really like them and still own about 20 or 30 even though I haven't touched them in a year.
However, the platform is a different animal all together. It's the difference in a corvette and a ferrari. Both go really fast and are better than a Subaru, but the ferrari is hands down the better machine. This is coming from a guy who only drove corvettes for the last 5 years.
Yep, I drove a s10 blazer zr2 for the longest time and had no issues. Until I shot my first decent buck and had to load it on the roof myself. That sucked. I ended up using the truck and a rope to hoist the deer into a tree and tie off with a second rope. Then drive under the deer and lower it onto the truck.I had a fj cruiser for 8 years. Here's a quick pic I took of a finished kit.

I'll get a measurement for you. Basically trial and error. I drilled a bunch of holes 1" apart on the tube and tried to find the location where the top stayed attached best and the bottom bracket didn't bend

I'm driving a ford escape now. I've had been using an one of those extra long totes to put deer in for now but I broke it hauling my last deer out so I think I'm going to move to one of those heavy duty game sleds. Keeps the blood out of the inside and makes it a little easier to get it into the car. Just prop one end up on the tailgate and lift the other side and shove it in there. Has anyone tried using body bags?I have a buddy that routinely loads deer into the back of his Honda CRX hatchback. It is the most ridiculous looking thing you have ever seen. Lays a trash bag down and stuffs the deer in. Wow I have some special friends.
You didn't miss me but I would like one too.Ok, i think i got PM's out to everyone. If I missed someone, please give me a shout.
I know someone who did this. I think he said it actually worked pretty good.Has anyone tried using body bags?
