Novix/Trophyline Mission Platform

I wanted an ambush but was concerned about the flex so held off, I'm about 20 lbs more than you. I'm really considering the .5 at this point too but might save money and try the mission and see how it works. Not sure if there will be flex with the mission or .5 for bigger guys.
I'm interested to see some real life reviews of the .5 and mission but those will probably be a few weeks out. Predator XL might be an option, hoping we get some news soon.

If the mission is as good as the assassin there will
Be no flex they are solid as a rock

I don't love that "hump" thet keeps it from packing flat against your back. But I think I remember talking with Shawn about how their pack was designed to carry the platform and sticks.

They pack fine in a bag here is an assassin in a mr pop up 18.. my goal is to get away from a bag.. I love the lwcg mini sticks so that’s a plus on the .5 wish I had a better experience with the ambush.

Well I just bought a .5. Didn't really want to buy from them but like cbigbear said, they are the first to bring the right size mobile stand to market and I don't see anything else coming down the pike.

And yes I'll still use my smaller saddle platform but I've been longing for a small stand to use as a hybrid, all day hunts on a tiny platform suck.

I'm leaning more and more towards using a hang on/saddle combo. Yeah it's more weight but my sticks pack better on it and I don't have to stare at a tree the whole time if I don't want to.

All these big platforms seem to be the opposite of what I want. A bag of squirrel steps to stand on worked last year. I hardly used my predator. If I use a platform, a scout on an EWO stick seems to be enough if I even need that.
You can shoot that mini in line crossbow with one hand balancing on two @DanO steps no problem.

Why invest in a platform for comfort. People invest in a platform because their saddle sucks. Spend the money on a comfortable saddle instead. There are several super comfortable saddles today.

Four or five squirrel steps fit in a fleece EWO bag and attach to my Super comfortable saddle.

I think the OOAL scout would be great for run and gun with a rifle/crossbow, but I just don't like shooting like that to the weak side with my compound.

Mission $190
Lwcg .5 $500
you could buy 2 missions For that price. Mission looks pretty sweet I think !

Kind of. On the .5 the seat also acts as a meat shelf. A pack with a frame will most likely weigh 4+ lb and will cost another 200 - 500. Ex. a MR Pop Up 28 and Mission platform weighs 10+ lb. If you are looking at your pack weight look at your pack first. You'll be surprised what it weighs. I had a really hard time finding a sub 2 lb frameless pack.

You could also argue that $190 is in the Lone Wolf/XOP hang on price range minus a seat and less foot room. I get it's a niche product and you really only need one. But I feel like we're almost coming full circle back to tree stands.

I hunt in relatively mild weather in TN and have never sat (or wanted to sit) all day on stand, so for me, I just need to be comfortable for about 3 hours. I can definitely achieve that with a saddle and regular platform. But for the guys who stay on stand all day, I don’t see why they wouldn’t bring along a featherweight tree stand and a saddle in order to alternate. Seems like a great combo for those “hard core” fellas out there.

Exactly what I said before the reason that I saddle hunt was for the weight saving. If i hunt with my LW stand and 3 Old LW sticks and aider I can get 18ft at 20lb with a long bow that's all I need.

I could never get comfortable in a tree stand. Sitting on a small metal seat. Knees bent at 90 degrees for hours. But if a stand weighs a few oz or even a lb more than a large platform .. why not have the option of both? I'll never go back to a harness because most saddles are lighter and safer. For the guys who pack out meat, a LWCG 1.0 or 0.5 gives you a meat shelf. A Pop Up 28 and Predator (one of the lightest platforms available) weighs 8.65 lb heavier than both LWCG stands.

And a saddle if used in a regular stand isn't fall protection from what I understand! So I use a rock harnesses for that with a tether.
