Novix/Trophyline Mission Platform

I have to disagree there, maybe not stock, but I’ve yet to encounter a platform that I couldn’t add Talons to. Then you have the benefit of choosing whatever brand/model/length stick you want & have nesting capabilities along with access to sticks while climbing.

LWCG makes a good but highly overpriced platform & the Novix platform looks good at a fair price. However, neither platform is going to nest with Hawk, OOL, or beast sticks. So to make their systems functional you will also need to purchase sticks. Guess I’m partial but you’d get way more bang for your buck with picking a platform & sticks of your liking & adding Talons.
All that's fair. I was never a stick guy until LWCG made theirs .75" wide and side stacking with rotating standoffs. It's an absolute crying shame that it involves a $300 price tag to get all that. Guess I never did the talon thing, so I cant speak on it.

I hate to say it, but I think LWCG is the new lone wolf. Lots of people moaned and groaned about their stand prices back in the day. Then one day you wake up and everybody is cool with the price tag and laughing at people saving a hundred bucks on a different stand. I think there's a good chance that we're looking at a new normal for stand prices.

Shame. Used to I'd have sworn I'd never pay more than 100 bucks for a stand, a pair of waders, or a jacket. Hunting continues to morph from an everyman's pursuit to a rich man's game. Or maybe just inflation is catching up with the industry. Somehow, I could barely afford the old gear then, and I can barely afford the new gear now.

I dunno.

Yes prices will continue to rise as the demand is there. I always said that a cast or water jetted stand with Loc-on Limit dimensions would be the holy grail for me. Yet now that the .5 is here I can’t see forking out the $$.

I spend a decent amount of money on gear but always find myself modding it to exactly fit my needs. My LW sticks are now only LW tubes & 3 single steps. The rest is custom built or EWO parts. My hawks are chopped & have custom versa buttons. My new micro sticks are all custom except for LW standoffs. My platform is a chopped Assault. My saddle is a fleece blanket. I find it hard to find anything stock & hunt ready for me. I liked the idea of the LW stick quiver, but felt I could do alittle better thus designed the stick Talons. They ended up morphing into a catch all product that can mate any stand, platform, pack, to any brand, model, length stick.

I think I did and posted it here or on one of the other threads. I get confused!

5lbs 13oz without strap. Which is what they advertise it as. Nobody weighs stands with straps or seat cushions. Cute of them
Sorry man, you did but I hadn't made it all the way thru. Work has me in class and I am doing multiple things on break, including only reading part of this thread. Thanks.

I said the same thing. If I could get limit or windwalker in cast and adjustable I’d buy it. It came out I bought it 10 min later

Eh, you're just going more top shelf. Hawk put out their run and gun stand/sticks out and it was at midway for $200 for the whole set. People kill deer off the ground on public land all the time.

Just be careful or I'll be seeing $5 a can beers in your videos pretty soon :)

He may have to start making his own shine to save money. If he sells it, he maybe able to feed his hunting addiction. Lol

Guilty as charged, lol.

I think what happened was with all the emphasis put on weight savings, manufacturers figured out how to make lighter gear. The assassin was reborn as the ambush and lost a pound. The .5 is the lightest cast hang on that's ever been to my knowledge. Carbon sticks. Mesh saddles. Lighter insulated clothes.

I can now carry an in-production, unmodified stand and sticks for about 10lbs. Show of hands, how many folks have a sub 10lb saddle system? What does an assault and 4 full length sticks weigh? 20 something?

I personally went minimalist because gear was over built and not made to carry. Now that stuff is built lighter and with packing in mind, I start thinking about the advantages stands offer. A place to sit when hip pinch bothers you. No tree in front of your face blocking your shot. No thinking about the weak side shot. Being able to face away from the high side of a leaner. And I can always wear my saddle in the stand and have a lot of the best of both worlds.

Dont get me wrong. You wont see my treehopper or my last few ameristeps or squirrel steps for sale. But stands are more appealing now than they've ever been
I agree my setup is light and I love my Predator platform .How much bigger are these platforms going to get if they keep going like this soon they be size of a loc on spirit. I'm like you I will never get rid of my ROS.

I like the price, the bigger foothold on the top of the post, the fact that it comes with backpack straps, and the fact that it lets you pack sticks on it.

I question the need for the cutout in the front. I don't have or want one on my ambush. 5.4lbs is almost a pound heavier than the ambush's advertised weight, but if the sticks are lighter it's a wash. Get yourself a drill press and drill some holes in the sticks, and you could probably even use the g-hooks attachment system like LWCG uses.

We'll see a lot of these in the woods.

All these big platforms seem to be the opposite of what I want. A bag of squirrel steps to stand on worked last year. I hardly used my predator. If I use a platform, a scout on an EWO stick seems to be enough if I even need that.
You can shoot that mini in line crossbow with one hand balancing on two @DanO steps no problem.

Why invest in a platform for comfort. People invest in a platform because their saddle sucks. Spend the money on a comfortable saddle instead. There are several super comfortable saddles today.

Four or five squirrel steps fit in a fleece EWO bag and attach to my Super comfortable saddle.

One stick and rappel means I don’t worry about the fact you can attach sticks to a platform.

All right, you're on to me. . . . Saddle hunting is just an excuse to pursue my suppressed pole dancing aspirations. :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
I do this out the woods because, quite frankly, nobody needs to see a swinging "Grandad Bod". :)

Oh, I digress, back on topic . . . Its a nice looking platform but I'm afraid its a bit to bulky to become a regular piece of equipment in my hunting arsenal.
Come on man don't be like that. Give us a little show!

Kinda disappointed, I sold my lw assassin banking on some improvements from
Novix, they claim the new platform
Packs flat but in the video review it appears to have the same point on the bottom of the platform that makes the assassin uncomfortable to carry with just back pack straps. That point sticks right into your back add sticks and a small bag to it and it will be worse..

With a size 15 boot and 250lbs I wasn’t a fan of the ambush flex, I guess we wait and see what the predator xl looks like. But the .5 from lwcg is looking like the go to utility platform at this point.

I wanted an ambush but was concerned about the flex so held off, I'm about 20 lbs more than you. I'm really considering the .5 at this point too but might save money and try the mission and see how it works. Not sure if there will be flex with the mission or .5 for bigger guys.
I'm interested to see some real life reviews of the .5 and mission but those will probably be a few weeks out. Predator XL might be an option, hoping we get some news soon.
