All that's fair. I was never a stick guy until LWCG made theirs .75" wide and side stacking with rotating standoffs. It's an absolute crying shame that it involves a $300 price tag to get all that. Guess I never did the talon thing, so I cant speak on it.I have to disagree there, maybe not stock, but I’ve yet to encounter a platform that I couldn’t add Talons to. Then you have the benefit of choosing whatever brand/model/length stick you want & have nesting capabilities along with access to sticks while climbing.
LWCG makes a good but highly overpriced platform & the Novix platform looks good at a fair price. However, neither platform is going to nest with Hawk, OOL, or beast sticks. So to make their systems functional you will also need to purchase sticks. Guess I’m partial but you’d get way more bang for your buck with picking a platform & sticks of your liking & adding Talons.
I hate to say it, but I think LWCG is the new lone wolf. Lots of people moaned and groaned about their stand prices back in the day. Then one day you wake up and everybody is cool with the price tag and laughing at people saving a hundred bucks on a different stand. I think there's a good chance that we're looking at a new normal for stand prices.
Shame. Used to I'd have sworn I'd never pay more than 100 bucks for a stand, a pair of waders, or a jacket. Hunting continues to morph from an everyman's pursuit to a rich man's game. Or maybe just inflation is catching up with the industry. Somehow, I could barely afford the old gear then, and I can barely afford the new gear now.
I dunno.
