If they do I’m sure I’ll have to have some. But I really like the climber seat platform. I hunt Virginia also and it works for me there too but don’t get me wrong. I have bolts, sticks, trophy steps, sold my spurs but am getting the Kiwi’s. I have Ameristeps, Custom XOP platform thanks to bow hunter 15 custom post. I use them all but not very much. I’m like G2 said the gear is just part of the fun of being addicted to this sport.

Hunting different areas in VA is unique. Where I hunt, I can go from a pine grove to hardwoods in a matter of a few yards on public land. Not to mention at the club where the propert is owned by paper mills. As hard Woods are cut they replaced with pine. As pine grows faster for harvest.

Yes it is and that climber seat works really well there. When I get the spurs I might use the predator platform but it’s a toss up and most of the trees will take the climber. After this season I’ll be able to give a better analysis of the climber seat or spurs and predator. One of the disadvantages of the spurs is putting them on and off and back on and off.

Inside information here. Tethrd may or may not be working on an anti-gravity suit!

Will it be available in Scent Loc?
Can we choose the camouflage pattern?
Does it have built in knee pads?
You should build the Mantis into the suit... wait, we won't need a Saddle, just a tether to keep us from floating into outer space.
I'M IN!
I'm going to list my Mantis in the classifieds before I even get it!

I agree with taking them off and putting them back on. I am no longer as nimble as the younger crowd. I did some presets just using the spurs. Not sure if I will be using them to climb during hunting season.

Well the point of Tethrd as a company is to get more people into saddle hunting. They obviously had to create something brand new for the market that would work well out the box for the masses. This is what they did!! Now both @g2outdoors and @Erniepower both have said you don’t have to buy the whole system basically choose what you want just get into a saddle!! Now would it be cool if everyone just bought everything...well yeah of course this is brand new for them and they want to succeed.

I currently use and adjustable bridge but as i was out today hunting coyotes i began to wonder WHY? I climb mostly as it is just easier and I rarely adjust my bridge. Its there just in case i want to because i like options. Do i need it... no i dont!! But thats me!!

A solution to the adjustable bridge is something i have used from wesspur and i attached pics. They are heat resistant prusik cords made by ultratech. They come in two diameters and can be spliced for a fee. They are fixed sizes but they work well. They can be wrapped around your loops and secured together by a biner or let out to full length. Im not a climbing expert and my rappelling skills are mediocre. I would consult @BassBoysLLP or @Erniepower as those guys are way more advanced than me.

Ultimately Tethrd will expand as time goes on because they are a business but a new one but as they develop and grow they will probably bring new things to market. Just get out in a saddle be it their’s or someone elses, customize it and make it your own!!!

Why not put the prusic on each side of the buckle and use as a climbing loop. That’s what we did when I was poor climber when our equipment was let’s say worn out. Of course it was a pass through buckle but the premise is the same, then assend.

The ADF raptor buckle we chose is a a load rated buckle (4k lbs I think) and the belt itself is rated at 3k. Plus it's 1 continuous peice around the length of the saddle.

The leg straps are NOT load bearing. They only function to keep the saddle in place in conjunction with the belt.

If the buckles on the leg straps aren’t weight bearing, in the event of a fall while climbing with a lineman’s belt, what keeps you in the saddle? I know it’s not much of a fall but maybe a bit of a slide.

The waist belt. Its really no different than falling on a treehopper belt, etc.

Great question. I'm glad you brought it up. The way I understand it... the Mantis (and pretty much every saddle) works is the main structure (generally heavy duty webbing) does all the heavy lifting. The belt and the leg straps only serve to keep it in place. Our belt for instance, even though it's load rated, never sees a load. Same goes for the leg straps. They work in conjunction with the belt to keep the Mantis positioned correctly. Even in the event of a fall, the heavy lifting or catching is done with the main construction of the saddle. Ours is made of 6,000 lb webbing. Hopefully that makes sense.

do you have a link to this 3lb voodoo you speak of?

I mentioned on here that I thought it 3 pounds or less. But I don’t have a scale and Donnieballgame I think weighted his and it was closer to 5. But for me it just makes sense that I only carry the platform. I wear my saddle and tether around my waist. I have a $20 backpack from Walmart that has straps half way down on each side with plastic buckles that I run through each side of the platform and cinch tight. I put whatever in my backpack and that and my bow is it. That’s climbing method and platform all in one. When I get to height I put my hangers on or in the tree and I’m ready to hunt. It doesn’t take very long to climb but if you take your time you can not make as much noise. It’s apparently not for everyone but it really works well for me so I’m going to post it a lot. But that’s why they have different colors because not everyone likes blue.

I’m already thinking I’m going to bolt Lone Wolf arms on Predator and try it for climbing to see if it works better than Lone Wolf or XOP. But dot tell Ernie or G2.
