    Amsteel - rapell???

Stupid question - but can I use Amsteel to rappel down my tree??? Using like 5/16" Amsteel and a figure 8?? Just thinking out loud here - - -

    Stopped rappelling

I have also come to a similar conclusion - lots of extra rope/gear to exit the tree. I'll probably do it a couple times in season - but with spikes you really have a great way to come down already...

    Rapell - figure 8??

Hey pesqimon I'm not really doing it that way. I will try this evening though, to do a rapel with that hold - I did find where you can rig an 8 with two wraps around instead of just one - so going to try that also - Thanks man!!!

    Rapell - figure 8??

I using my 8 with 11mm "assault" line from REI - it was on sale a couple months ago and I like the specs - so I got some. I'm not super happy with it as it goes through the 8 too fast and I decend to quickly. I'll investigate adding friction to the 8, I'm afraid maybe I'm a little too "portly"...

    Rapell - figure 8??

So the 8 came in the other day - tried it a couple times - just with an 11mm rappel line - I'm about 240 ish on the hoof and I just don't think that 8 provides enough friction...I have to really wrench my brake hand/arm to get the nice slow descend I want. Any advice - I need more friction...

So I'm a new member here and fascinated with this whole concept - in planning for next season - - I'm thinking of climbing up with my spurs, hunting, then rappelling down on a single rope (similar to flingin's set up) using a figure 8 descender. anybody doing this - this way - I can get a...

Tree Spikes - issues climbing with them??!!??

OK - thanks guys - I climbed an old ash tree Sunday and had a heck of a time - I was just curious if there is a trick to them or not. I would plant my foot and then put my weight on them and then need to remove it for the next step and had to really pull/twist to get them out. Was a really...

Tree Spikes - issues climbing with them??!!??

So - pretty new here - love the whole saddle concept - way cool!! Brand new Klein spikes - (tree spikes - not pole spikes) I've climbed a couple times in them so far and notice that I really have to "grunt" to pull my spike out to take my next step - I'm about 240lbs and these guys are rated...

    bridge?? why not tubular webbing??

So just starting to look into hunting this way - have a pair of new Klein spikes for this style of climbing/hunting - I would like to sew my own equipment - pretty familiar with this type of thing - I've already sewn several items for hunting and fishing - My question is this - why the fondness...
