11-19-16 kill

Eaton

Awesome buck and great pics. Even fido posed well.

There's no way this forum can allow you to get away without telling us the story on that buck!

A buck like that without the story should almost be a reason for dismissal from the site. LOL

Ok it wasn't much of a story. I'll get back on lil later today and share it.

Ok so I had this buck on cam a few times in a few different places and knew he was a good one. Well I go hunt in my saddle on the edge of a greenfield with lots of acorn dropping as well. I have seen quite a few bucks and does come out out there including a 3.5 yr old 12 pt rhat will be a hoss next yr or 2. So I wasn't seeing much like I usually did and about 5:00 pm a doe comes out about 80 yrds away. I'm thinking I'm gonna get to shoot at her when she gets to me. About 3 min after she comes out I see more movement and got my binoculars on it and I see it's a good buck rhen looked a few seconds longer and I knew what buck it was. Well he was walking and eating towards me all the while I was making sure he was mature enough and praying the wind doesn't change like it normally does. All went well and he finally made his way to 19 yrds away. Worked a scrape and Pissed on his hocks. He then looked away with a slight quartering away shot and I took it. When the Grizztrick hit him it was so loud as it broke 2 ribs. He took off and i saw blood pouring out. He went about 80 yards and piled up.

What I think truly happen is this. See my dad, my hunting partner passed away at age 60 for no apparent reason. I always have ad luck when it comes to big deer and I only bow hunt so it's that much harder. I believe he brought that deer on a string right to me and kept the wind in my favor, and i never even got nervous which was just weird. I was so calm. Cause it always swirls in the hills. I wish he was there to experience it with me in person but I know he was there in spirit. I miss him so much. Just not being able to text pics to him or talk about hunting sucks. He was very active and ate healthy. Had no signs of anything going on with him. We are still waiting on blood cultures as the autopsy didn't find anything that caused his death. Anyway I miss him and I truly think he got me that buck. And I know I said it was not much of a story but when I started typing more came out. So that's what happened and some things I think took place.

Anyway

That may be the best story I've read all year. I'm so sorry for your loss. My dad lives 1000 miles away but is my favorite hunting buddy. I make the drive to elk hunt with him as much as I can.

It's a fantastic buck and a memory you will always treasure . When people ask why I put taxidermy up, I explain to them that seeing the animal brings back the hunt. I can remember every detail and every feeling from those hunts. And just walking by them brings it all back. Well for you, every time you see that buck, it will be like your dad is quietly saying he loves you.

I agree with Ernie! Wonderful story and awesome buck.
Eaton,
The Lord makes it clear in 2 Corinthians; the body is temporary and when the earthly tent that we live in is destroyed, HE has an eternal shelter for us.

I lost my dad 10 years ago and only recently found out he wanted to go hunting with me. If I had only seen the signs...... wish my taxidermy brought back those kind of memories. Nice story and a nice buck!

Thanks for sharing your story. My dad and I often feel like my grandfather is watching over us at times in the same way. My dad is my best hunting buddy and I'm grateful for all the memories we continue to make.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Thanks guys. It was hard at first and has been getting better only because we had so many good memories together. He is just missed by so many people.

Holy crap Eaton!!!!!!!

That's a phenomenal buck and one of the best 8 points I've ever seen as he holds his mass all the way through his rack, has long points, nothing broke, and he has a huge body. Your dad would be extremely proud Eaton and by the way, with all that blood coming out of his nose, great shot.

That is one unreal buck and first to boot out of a saddle what!!!! Thats awesome man and im sure your dad would be proud. Freakin unreal absolute stud. Congratulations
