Best platform

On the hand climber you can move around the tree and it takes a side load as long as you still have your foot pressing down and it is past the pivot point. If you move around far enough that you are pushing the climber away from the tree it slips. I have used it with a strap girthed to one side with a hook on the other and it held fine once tightened down no matter which way you pushed it. If you use the hand climber to climb up the tree it can be tough to strap the bottom to the tree. You could do it with a aider but it still requires a good bit of effort.

I prefer the BassBoysLLP Ultimate Limited Edition Platform. It's like Red Bull. It gives you wings.

I'm using rapid rails, so for me it's either Ameristeps or a custom aluminum platform I had made to sit on top of my rail. It's angled to perpendicular to my body vs the tree

I'd like to see a photo of that custom platform.

While I am in the tree, I keep a paracord clipped from my harness to my footstraps. I can pull my footstrap loops open to easily get my feet in. I CAN'T drop the platform down the tree.

You can easily just lift your feet and hang and walk the whole platform around the tree. If I am changing spots on my tree, it is generally because the sun is on me, the wind changed, or I see something approaching from a distance.

Guys,

How does the xop handlimber seat handle side loading / walking around the tree?

Could you put a cam buck strap on the back side / bottom to prevent slipping- especially when doing a full 180 and side loading from the back side with one foot?

Stock I wouldn't trust it.

with a few modifications....(unfortunately photobucket wants $399.00 for me to show pictures in previous threads showing how to make this. nah)

Ive since turned this into a straight up assassin platform for one sticking....this year I'm downsizing the platform to a bassboy ultimate and 1 stick

I put a strap around the tree, then to the outside of the stand... solid as a rock...

The intent was for the position in the fist pic, but pic 2 works better. I should have the pins moved to the location in pic 3 but it works for now.
I'd like to have an angle slightly steeper than pic 2.

Interesting design. So your platform has a couple of pins underneath that insert into holes you drilled into the top rung of the rapid rail? I assume that you add the platform once you've locked the rail into position, then cinch the strap around the tree? It would appear that the angle in pic #2 would be fairly user-friendly. Too steep and it would be difficult to occasionally stand up.

The pins were originally intended to sit behind the top rung at the steeper pitch. (Too steep)
What I found by mistake is that when I reduce the angle the rib on the back sits on the top rail. Once strapped on it's quite stable. I will eventually move the pins to the upper rib so they sit behind the top rail at the lower angle or have another one made up.

I paid for it. $50

If you're using climbing sticks to get up, that looks SOLID.
I honestly don't have a problem standing on it stock though.
I have it tethered to me with paracord so it isn't going any where.
I am wearing a harness, so I'm not going to fall....
