Don't feel bad, our season opens on September 30th this year. (I have a mandatory work day on September 30th...) so the next weekend is a Saturday morning obligation. I will not hit the woods till the second weekend of the season on Saturday evening! I am trying to figure a way out of these obligations short of getting fired!

Saturday. Spent about half the day looking for a good spot to hunt Saturday morning on a piece of public near me. I have better places public and private that are just too far away for hunts that are only a couple hours. Didn't find a good morning stand so I'm shooting dove in the morning and putting the kestrel to the rest Saturday evening. @g2outdoors I love morning hunts in the early season. It's cooler, and I can trail deer in the daylight instead of 9:00 at night. I usually only hunt a couple hours in the morning in September. I spook more deer in the early season in the morning time walking to the stand. There's just so much food that you don't really know where they will be. I also walked about 3 miles yesterday in creek bottoms bordered by planted pines and never saw the first rub. I may have a chance to get one of those velvet antlered bucks. That doesn't happen often in Georgia. I usually start seeing rubs about the middle of August.

like most of you, I have limited time to hunt. As much as I'd like to be able to cherry pick hunts, I just can't do it. I have to hunt when the stars align.

I agree @EricS - I prefer mornings because they make my day easier.

In 12 days -- I'll still have 20 dadgum days to wait!
Archery season opens on 7 October here...

Good luck to all that have the opportunity to get out there and hang from trees sooner.
