Buckingham Tree Squeeze

I got my "tree squeeze" in friday afternoon and climbed with it Saturday....... I gotta say I love this thing !!!!
First off this will def prevent a fall. I climbed a few feet off ground and tested it and never dropped more than 1 ft.
Also made it alot easier to climb the tree. The only problem I was concerned about was setting my XOP platform and then moving above it. Well that was no problem at all, and easier than with standard linemens belt.
It takes a little longer hooking it up (maybe a minute) but the assurance of knowing if I gaff out I will be safe is worth it......

I will try to get some today or tomorrow....... I forgot to mention that once you get up on your platform and tethering in its more secured to tree....

That is pretty slick. How easy is it to work around limbs? I set a tree with bolts this weekend and have to go around 5 clusters of limbs (elm tree).

I really don't think if you had alot of limbs it would be my choice. To get past a limb you will have to have another climbing belt, or course but to set this up you have to take you linemen's rope through the rings and attach to saddle. I can see doing this with maybe two limbs but if I had several limbs to pass I would just use linmen's ropes.

Ok guys I got a couple of pictures.... I will get better ones later cause while in the saddle its hard to get back far enough to capture all I wanted.
gonna have to get help and maybe video it..... Anyway in the first picture you see I have put the tree squeeze around the tree, passed my rope which is attached to my saddle using carabiner and ropeman. I pass the rope through the two rings and then tie an overhand knot with loop.
Attach your carabiner to loop then to saddle. Ready to climb.
Secound picture is with me hanging. Like I said I will try and get video of the process

That looks basically the same idea this guy uses.

What are you grabbing onto while climbing? That was my issue with a system like this. Not much to grab to pull yourself toward the tree to take the weight off of it to advance it up the tree. Maybe I just wasn't doing it right lol.

the green rope. As you climb you just hold it in your hands and walk up. The green rope is like a flipline so it stiffer than just a rope done like this allowing you to move easier up as you go.

WEAR GLOVES. Slide down a tree without them once and you'll see why :)

Also, really think about where you aren't putting your fingers and thumbs..if you get your thumbs caught under the rings you won't like it.

When I advance my tether, I'm careful about my finger position

Yea but if he gaffs out on the way up he will fall cause the rope is not going to squeeze the tree. As you see once he reached the top he then adjusted to make it tighter. The tree squeeze is adjusted around the tree tight, as you lean forward to move it up you take tension off the rings allowing you to seperate the rings and walk the rope up. If you gaff out you put tension on the rings causing it to squeeze the tree. Maybe drop 6-8 inches. It REALLY works great !!!!! Very easy to climb with (fast) like he was doing just gonna catch you if you gaff out

With a standard rope yes..... I have had that problem too... With this just place hands around outside of rig with left hand and on green rope below the prusik with the right hand. In the picture i have tension on the rope. once you lean forward the rings seperate into your hands and because the are stiff like flip line you just walk it up as you climb. No need to flip the line just walk up tree holding it.

Forgot to mention.... I use to wear mechanic gloves with just the rope method cause I have skinned my hands pretty good but with this I don't wear gloves. No need for them
