Calling All Ameristep Users!

I just checked and my straps/buckles still show in production and haven't shipped out yet. The buckles I'm ordering for resale are rated 1000# with 333# working load limit and feature the buckle similar to the IMMI buckle. I'll be offering the 7' strap and buckle for $11.

Have you shown a picture of this buckle or similar somewhere on this thread?

Here's a pic of one of the buckles I'm receiving this week. They've shipped today and I'm also receiving two other versions this week so I can compare.

And here's the flat hook that will be attached to the strap end (vinyl coated):

I have been using ROS Ameristeps with my TrophyLine for 6 years and love it. I would be in for something like this, less bulky
and probably lighter

I wouldn't think 1/4" would make much of a difference one way or the other? am i wrong?
On the steps I cut, I made one 1", and the rest 3/4". You wouldn't think it would be much of a difference, but seems huge when comparing side by side.

I have one that I cut 1 1/4” one 1” and 1 3/4” I cannot really tell which one I’m standing on at any given time.
The steps I had made I think turned out awesome. I’m waiting on confirmation! Lol

Well that's good to know that there's not much different standing on them. I know just looking at them side-by-side one seems much larger than the other. I was regretting cutting all my blanks at three quarter, after cutting one at 1 in, but now not so much.

For clarification
I hope that reads right.
1 cut at 3/4”
1 cut at 1”
1 cut at 1 1/4”

I was comparing the 1” to the 3/4” I think you can tell the difference ever so slightly from the 3/4 to the 1 1/4”

As stated before he messed up the slots but they don’t flex with me on them.

Ok, so my machinist is getting close to having these ready but lost most of today due to computer issues. He will be cutting a few 3/4" SquirrelSteps over the next couple of days so won't be able to fulfill all the requests until early next week. I've done my part and just listed the Ring of Steps Strap to DoubleSteps for immediate purchase ($11).

Small batch of these will be shipping to some of the pre-order guys. A few more need to be made in the next couple of days to fulfill the rest. Once they've all placed orders I'll make these available for anyone to order at $26/each.

I remember when this thread started. I’m glad to see that someone (DanO) made this happen for production. If I wouldn’t haven’t stumbled upon 6 ameristeps in my father-in-laws shed I would be ordering ASAP. But since I have found them, my order for these will be pushed back. Look forward to seeing these out a being put to use. Great job again guys. I’m a newbie but have learned a ton in a short period of time from you guys.

This place sucks you in with a "buy once, cry once, use the same saddle everywhere" Trojan horse of imaginary savings.

Then things like this pop up, seems like every day.

How does one go about buying these steps for a ring?
Steps will be available at https://doublesteps.com starting 12/20/18. Giving the pre-order guys time to purchase. Back orders can be placed as it will be just a couple days to get caught up with demand. Ring of Steps Strap (ROSS) also available.

Not trying to step on anyones toes but I posted a thread for anyone needing ROS made that might have missed out on this opportunity. I designed these for myself but if enough people want them I will let my machinist know and ill get the quote going. See thread for additional info. Thanks https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/anyone-need-ros.11277/

Its great to have options - can't wait to see what you can offer. There are so many different personal preferences that you can't please everyone with just one design. By the way, no one missed the opportunity on SquirrelSteps as they are just now rolling off the machines. The first batch is actually shipping on 12/20. And most orders placed tmw will ship the next day, etc.

Yeah you are absolutely right. Good to know about the Squirrel Steps. You guys did a great job

@DanO, I'm dead serious when I say that if you build a step that's papa-approved, I'm buying a lifetime supply.

I think smooth back is best. Step angled upwards. I cut the wings off of an ameristep, and I will say that 100% they make a surprising difference in stability. The narrow APIs that I have are not as steady under side pressure, but they do pack very well.

I still think a 2" strap would make a difference in stability, but we don't have a good buckle. If somebody would scale up the buckle red is using, that would in my mind be the cat's a$$.

I really think if you straight-up ripped off the Golden buck, you couldn't keep them in stock.

I have a 2in boat buckle that is close in weight and length as the 1in boat buckle. I used it to hang lock ons for years and introduced it here when the site 1st started. Somewhere is a thread with it. It led red to finding a 1in version and getting us where we are today with the OCB. They are a lot easier to cam over than the 1in because they track better as you cam over and you have more to hold because of the width. I bet they would make a heck of a stable ROS with seat belt webbing and not be much difference in weight.

I found them so added pics next to a 1in OCB. It’s just a boat transom strap from Walmart. Probably Atwood.
