Consew 206 RB-4 acquired

$600 isnt a bad price but it is probably the higher end of the range if its in great condition. For me, Id be more comfortable in the $400-$500 range on it, but I also have more machines than most.

If you can off load your other machines to recoup the price, and you verified it works well and nothing is damaged, Id say try and negotiate a better price and go for it.
I just noticed it was a -2 not a -4. I agree I think it’s priced a little higher than I’d want it for. I’m just going to see what the best she’ll do on it. Thanks!

I agree with jhunter13 feedback. If you can recoup, get it. I paid $675 for my RB-4.

That said, I would be interested in the 2,3 or 4 models; however, if you get a smokin deal on a 5 like jhunter13 jump on it.

Rb, 1 through 4 were made by Seiko in Japan.

If you do get it, hit me up if you have issues. I went through a lengthy process to get it running well. It is a hoss now!

What is the difference between the -2 and -4? I’m assuming year as well as pad vs dial? Here the ones she’s asking $600 for.4879E97D-AC03-45AD-9A01-AE9C6F53E8C5.jpeg

Rb, rb1, rb2 have the reverse lever push up to reverse and turn dial to change stitch length. Plus, AFAIK, less wicks on top. Nothing really a deal breaker.

Rb-3, rb4, rb5 have dial for stitch length and bar is pressed down to go in reverse.

Rb-5 production was moved over to China.

That looks to be in pretty good condition. jhunter13 what do you think of the condition?

One last thing, rb5 is the only version where one can balance the fwd and reverse stitches. Mine is about 1mm different in reverse. I believe they were designed that way. Only an issue if sewing leather and want to be precisely in same holes for locking thread.

That said, I can stop fwd stitching, change distance by a mm, go in reverse and hit same holes in reverse.

I think only me, and anyone else who is OCD, even give it a thought. jhunter13 probably got a few laughs over me obsessing about that.

For what we use them for, there is no difference other than age, preference and aesthetics. But, yes, the main difference between the RB2 and the RB3, 4, and 5 is the stich length adjustmemt and reverse

The RB2s have been around for over 30 years and many of them ran in factories 8 to 10 hours a day for most of their life. I agree with @sojourner - this one looks well taken care.

What type of servo motor is on it? You have to take that into account as well, along with table condition and any extra feet, binders or accessories that come with it.

Be careful. You sound like you are past kicking tires and close to the danger zone of owning another machine!!!! If you back out now you may dodge a hit to the bank account.

We have all been there......Be sure to upload some pics when its loaded in the truck!!!! Good luck!
