DaveT1963 Ultimate Platfor m

Yes. Same beefy, probably beefier, but wider hit points would be ideal.

What about using the batwing from a lonewolf stand. Not the v brackets on the sticks but the one on the stands at the seat.

I am actually building another platform using the elite seat for my all day hunts/close access hunts. I sure would like to have wider and better batwings.... Ken you planning on making some? I wish I had the right equipment I would make a few for us all. I agree with Bass - both of the lone wolf v brackets just do not stand up over time in my experience. Their batwings are better but the original ones they use on sticks are crap for standing on all day... well at least for this 215 pound lardo

I'm going to try tap dancing on some muddy brackets this weekend.

I think what we need is some custom V brackets like at the bottom of the xop stands. I have even contemplated just taking a platform and cutting it in half and using that. I'm going to have to but some 1/2 alum and find a way to cut my own

Dave I dont have a source for modding aluminum like that. Well I do, but its not cheap. All the stuff you see on tree stands is Extruded bar stock, so they cut to thickness(Like slicing a loaf of bread) and drill a hole and done. Maybe they mill the lighting slots as well, not sure on that. A guy could cut one from 1/4" steel and bend a mounting tab on it with a hole in it. Not aluminum, but an option.

How much can a helium bracket take before bending?

I used mine all season last year and hunting off them many times - never had one bend at all. However, I don't care for how deep compared to how wide they are for a platform. I want my platform right you to the tree and not 3 inches from it. I think I am going to but some 5/16" aluminum plate and make some up. I will just cut them with a rotatory cutter and file down the rough edges. I am going to use the XOP as a template but make them an inch wider and more concave. Sure wish I was more equipped to manufacture things but I am just an old fart that knows what he wants/likes but usually has to make it :)

Have you guys thought about grinding the center 2 teeth off the xop bracket to give a wider contact point?
Got my parts on order.

Nice. I won't touch this until this weekend. Work has been nutty.

I know this is an old thread but do you still like your platform after a few season? Any new modifications?

I use two platforms. about half the time I use the Klemz design..... especially when hiking in far. I still use my original platform but I have went back to a standard square tube post on the one I use most. Truth is I still use a lone wolf 8.5 tree stand on those close stands where I can - I just use it with a saddle.
