Im sure this may be a gateway drug to one-sticking... I'm already looking for a rappel kit...Good luck with it! An unforseen sequence of events has me up in a tree this evening on just my UOS/UP.View attachment 91510

Don't even bother looking for a Madrock!
Get you a figure eight and be HAPPY...
That's what I was planning on. Figure 8 to keep it simple.
the only reason u should use a 1stick and a platform is your order from EWO hasn't arrived yet
I'm pretty new to offer any worthwhile advice (and currently use an EDP as well), but I like the mobility around the tree trunk by using the top stick step in additon to the platform That would be negated when using a stick-top platform, but an additional ROS might give you all you are hoping for. Like most things in this oddly compelling game of saddle hunting, you won't know without trying it out. It would be great if another SH member who had a stick-top platform lived in your proximity to trying it without having to fund it.I'd be using it on my top Muddy Pro. I could add a ROS later if I feel I need it. Mainly looking to have less stuff to carry and set up.
^^^ Awesome!Update:
I've one-stick climbed several times with my modified Muddy Pro with the U.P. now and it works great and is quite comfortable. I really like the angled edge, so much that I'm probably going to sell/trade my EDP and get a Seeker platform instead.
Instead of a ROS I found a good deal on a Gen 1 Pursuit platform that I will place on the side of the tree next to my U.P. so I can move around the tree for those 12-2 o'clock shots easier.
I live just down the road from Genesis 3D and they have a late summer gathering. I was just starting to dabble with saddle hunting and ended up not going because I was thinking it would be over my head. I would like to attend a gathering and get more first hand knowledge of rapelling and such. Where is that information located on SH?Have you newer guys seen the user map? @Alaska at Heart and @Mossy-Back ? There's usually meet ups come spring time, so be on the lookout for that. Great, great way to try gear, and meet some great people. ( I might just be heading up the MI meet up this year. It'll be a disaster with my organizational and people skills )
I'm also in West Michigan. Turns out myself and another member had plans to go to the G3D meet up too, and also ended up not making it.I live just down the road from Genesis 3D and they have a late summer gathering. I'll be using the top of stick platform and the Pursuit Platform which is very light and easy to pack when I'm one-sticking.
I've looked at the Pursuit V2 on their website. Have you tried it alone like you did the EDP? I like my EDP, other than weight-wise is a bit heavy. What are your impressions of the Pursuit?.I'll be using the top of stick platform and the Pursuit Platform which is very light and easy to pack when I'm one-sticking.
Where in west MI are you located? After season, I would be interested in meeting up at a mid-point or at one of the gatherings. I'm interested in learning more about rapelling down using a figure-8 in case of an issue.I'm also in West Michigan. For the meet ups there's a while sub forum for them. No one has made a post for this year's yet, but I do anticipate trying to organize one.
For the user map click menu ( ? I dunno, the 3 bars in the top left) Then SH User Content drop down and there's a link to the map.
Spoiler 1: if you have an issue rappeling with a figure 8 and don’t have a backup you don’t get a second chance to ask questionssWhere in west MI are you located? One stick with scout 3.5 lbsI'm looking at ways to simplify my setup and cut some weight.
For those that have used a on-stick platform like the EWO U.P. what are the pros and cons?
I'm not that worried about the actual size as much as the stability and side-pressure. Currently using a EDP platform for reference.
