EONPOW climbers

I found a handful of manufacturers for these, and it looks like a few will accept a minimum order quantity of 1 (they've got them in stock).

I'm waiting on pricing and delivery and i'll share with you guys.

It actually looks like a pretty easy thing to build. Want to look into the best steel to use. Pretty simple concept.

EONPOW is Hong Kong based so can only speculate that's where they are manufactured, too. As far as I can tell, there are no safety standards covering these, so be very careful, Red! Looking forward to the video.

Do you think these could be cnc'd out of aluminum?

You'd have to use some really thick aluminum. I don't think you'd realize the weight savings. Also, you can do some different things with steel to get better strength/weight ratio.

Think leaf spring for a truck - just to get it to support the weight of the truck it would probably be 3-4 times the thickness and width of the steel, and it has no ability to bend/flex. The load from hitting a bump would just break the aluminum.

You should be able to get O rings just about anywhere. Probably automotive store.

Found some grommets at Home Depot in the hardware section.

The concept works very well. It is the quality in these that is lacking. I will be safe! Like I said earlier, I would gladly pay more for a better built set.

@kyler1945 how did you find manufacturers for them?

Showed up on Amazon again and said 1 left so I grabbed it. Will probably end up in my garage collecting dust next to my spurs and stands but I couldn't help myself.

I climbed to 20 feet again today. The grommets worked pretty well, better than nothing for sure and it was nice to be able to adjust them.

I'll see if I can do a video by the end of the weekend.

If you are interested in getting rid of spurs message me. I've been wanting to try a set

Sorry guys, I have too much going on and didn't get to make a video. I still like the idea of these things. You have the same limitations as a climber as far as tree width and the tree diameter changing as you go up the tree. You can go around branches fairly easily though. I have quieted them down a lot from where they were but the arm portion still jiggles in there. I may just go back and fix them at their max length to solve that that and accept the tree size limitations. It's not easy to adjust it as you are climbing anyway.

Do you think that these could be made to use with the arms on the same side of the tree as the climber? It seems like they would be easier to adjust, plus you could lean back into your linesman's belt safer.

I don't think so because then each side would hit each other.

And I don't end up leaning into my lineman's belt much except when I stop. These things are like little mobile platforms as you go up the tree. As long as you keep downward pressure on them, you really are standing on them. Its a little bit different concept than spurs, because with spurs I feel you are more leaning into them.

Sadly, this item is not on amazon.ca and it doesn't ship to

They came in the mail today. I think they have potential but we'll see. I'll try them out later this week.

First thing up is to chuck the straps that came with them, they're junk. Tomorrow I'll put together some better straps. They are a little noisy out of the box but if they work I don't think they will be too hard to quiet down.
