Fatter gear hauling line?

I have tried webbing haulers and don't think I want a mechanical one. I pull up my pack, curve and Quiver all strapped together.
Any one use fatter rope?

I just went to Home Depot and picked up some cheap light polypro 1/4" rope 157# working load and a couple of 150# spring clips in camo :)

The rope should be good in water, doesn't seem to tangle, holds knots. I was using a paracord line that burns my hands and is hard to pull up a load without heavy gloves and with smaller clips that got snagged on everything....too small and a 'tooth' in the clip.

I put a clip on each end on an overhand knot and tied an overhand knot every 5 feet. I use the 5' knots to check my height and also to help when handling a load.

ANYWAY
If I like this, I'll replace it with stronger versions that won't weigh more but will cost a little more.
6mm climbing accessory cord can be bought in 25-50' lengths pretty cheap. Add two Mini FS Carabiners or Wild Country Astro or Camp Nano and you have a gear line that you could hang from.

I use a web strap on a spool. I haul my gear up by hand. Then I spoil up the strap. Easy peasy

I had bought a long length of prussic cord. Think it's 3/8 in tan. That's what I use with my grapple hook on the end. I hated paracord in the wind and it caught on every stick. The 3/8 seems to be perfect weight and stiffness not to tangle easy and controlable in the wind. Also easy on the hands.

I have been wanting to replace my paracord line always gets snagged never goes as smooth as I want it to. Glad someone started this thread

There's a GM Climbing 6mmx50' in black with green flecks for under $30 on Amazon and eBay.

Best deal though is Sterling Accessory cord from RWRope. They've got a bunch of sizes. Might try out 5mm

Yes, thicker works a little better and doesn't tangle as easy.

I just bought a dog tie out cable from Walmart I'm really liking it over paracord so far. If I end up liking it I will get another one for the other side. I use 2. I like to pull my back pack up before my weapon

I still use the paracord but I go up with my pack and just lift the longbow. It doesn't weigh Mitch and packs easily for me. It does catch on every "gotchya" vine in 10' but it is light and compact. In a preset stand I also use the heavier / larger rope and leave it tied up top and looped around a branch or Bush at the base. Then I do not have to deal with the weight and bulk.

This morning, I wore my pack with my bow attached to it and climbed up on TreeBolts. There were no obstructions and the tree was predrilled so it wasn't a big deal.

Interesting about the vinyl covered dog cables....

I still haven't gotten to use my 1/4" rope. If it packs and unpacks easily, I'm good.

I like the gorilla brand that has a thicker more hand friendly rope with 2 rubberized carabiners

What rubberized Carabiners?

I also just picked up 50' of BlueWater 3mm accessory cord in "camo".
It handles MUCH nicer than paracord but still pretty thin. Doesn't burn my hands as much and doesn't get so twisted and not as prone to snagging on bark and thorns.

I'll at least use that to retrieve my Rappel line. Might pick up a thicker 5mm line for a gear haul to try out.

I usually keep all my gear in my badlands monster fanny pack. I use a 30 ft HSS rope style tree strap for my tether. I tie the end to my bow, and quiver then pull them up with it....

I bought a Ameritech brand pull up line this year. It is some kind of poly and is flat. Looks like a smaller version of the rope that comes on stepps. Even when using para cord I grab my grunt tube and wrap about three wraps around the hard end. Then I can lower pretty fast without burning my hands.

I get mine from Wal-Mart. It is brown camo and it is located in the marine section. I think that it may be 3/8" diameter???? 50' for about $5 I like it way better than the narrower stuff .
