Favorite Ring of Steps attachment strap?

I got the XOP Orbit ring of steps. Great steps, compact, but the come with a ratchet strap to attach to the tree. While it is awesome to be able to get them this tight to the tree, it is loud, heavy, and bulky. It's also fiddly trying to feed a strap end through a ratchet in the dark, while hanging up in a tree. At least for me it is.

What are some favorite attachment methods ya'll use for a ring of steps? Something that will get super tight and secure but not as noisy and bulky as the ratchet?

Bullman outdoors uses a ratchet strap with their ring of steps and as a tutorial video showing how he can run it virtually silently. that may be worth a watch before you purchase a new strap. If your going to purchase a new strap a Eastern woods outdoors OCB is hard to beat, that's the style I use with my pursuit platform with 3 of the bullman steps on it as well

I use a ratchet strap I got from Bullman with ameristeps. Never had luck getting an OCB to get as tight as Id like. I wish they made OCB's with a longer handle to get more leverage. I don't find the ratchet to be to cumbersome, after a few uses, kinda get a feel for getting it done without much fuss or noise.

I use the OCB from Eastern Woods and I can get it plenty tight for my use. That is what I use 99 percent of the time. I also have a couple of ratchet straps and instead of feeding the webbing through the strap I replaced the bolt with a clevis pin for ease of set up and leave the strap threaded through the cam.

That's interesting, might be something to look into. Nice.

Treehopper makes a long handle ocb buckle. I have no experience with it though.

I use the Pursuit Platform and have had to get really good at using the excellent EWO OCB stap with the hook. It really holds very tight and is very quiet once you get used to doing it. @Nutterbuster has an excellent video on his YT channel/page in using the OCB strap but it’s in the 2019 time frame.

That being said I’m very intrigued by tailgunner’s system.

I notice there's several different options for the EWO OCB strap. One with metal buckle, one with separate buckle, one with quick release buckle - and one that says boat winch. Which is the most secure option and easiest to setup in the dark?

That's brilliant. You could dummy-cord it to the ratchet itself so it can't fall out of the tree. I use an EWO OCB but I've always preferred ratchet straps for just about anything you'd use a ratchet strap for.
