Took my son out for youth season and he passed a 4pnt and said he would wait and see if one of the 8's would come out, but they didn't. Fast forward to opening day of gun and him and I got an invite back to my friends farm. We had 5 deer come in, 3 bucks and 2 does. I confirmed one was a shooter and he did the rest. By shooter I mean they have antler restrictions during the normal seasons, so my son was the shooter and I was armed with binos to count points.:D The shot was about 80yds and the 44 mag cva scout single shot barked. I handed him the knife and said go gut him jokingly. He headed over and the buck jumped up and charged him. He quickly put that knife in the buck before I could get to him.

He ended up getting an 8pnt, but not one of the ones on the camera. This one was bigger.
No he didn't actually get charged, I noticed it was pretty stiff by the time we gutted it and got the idea to try to stand it up and take some funny pics. Not a saddle hunt guys, but Im proud of him and wanted to share it with you guys.

I saw that pic and was like "Woah what the heck!" HAHA. Congrats to him that's awesome! I'm taking my little man out Monday for our rifle opener. Got his Mossberg 500 20ga slug dialed in and ready.

Glory to God for the memories made with our kids. Congrats!!!

Got me on the pic too lol. Congrats to you both? That is a great first buck!!

Thanks guys, it was a great day to be a dad. Also worth noting, where legal, the 44 mag single shot is a great gun. My son has a 20ga pump and 1 shot of a slug is all he wants to shoot. Load some 44 specials in this gun and he will empty a box if you dont stop him. He doesnt love shooting the mags, but will shoot them when I ask him to. I love this gun so much I havent touched my 12ga since this caliber became legal in the part of the state we hunt. Note the stock doesnt match the forearm. I was able to buy a compact stock for $40 and its about 1" shorter. Again great gun for 150yd max range and ideal for youth.

I kept looking for your sons name and never saw it. Please congratulate the young man for me and let us know this future hall of fame hunters name.

That one picture will be a topic of discussion within his hunting circles for the rest of his life. Great idea to take it.
