Pretty stout. There is a better sled out there but they wanted 179 for shipping alone so that’s a hard no. I could buy 4 jet sleds for that price. It’s held up great after 5 trips ranging 1/2 to 1 mile trips with loads. The last one was on gravel and had no issues or noticeable wear. That YouTube video of Greg and Ernie visiting John he talks about the sleds and his van.

I have a beavertail sled, but they’re twice the price of the Jet Sled. I just spent 20 minutes or more reading reviews and it sounds like it will more than do what I need. JE’s endorsement is not a positive to me, lol, so now I’m back on the fence about it.

I just spoke to Maryland DNR a couple weeks ago and asked that question. I called the Baltimore office and was told that as long as you quarter the deer where it falls it is legal. You're not allowed to move the deer and then quarter it. For instance you cannot drag it to the parking lot and cut it up there.

I was also able to confirm that screw in steps and Spurs are legal on Maryland public land. The regulations just state that everything has to be removed from the tree when you leave.

That’s game changing about the screw in steps. I didn’t think it was legal. You’re sure?

I did the old deer drag this year with one doe! Rope around the deer and hooked to my bridge on the SitDrag. All up hill about 3/4 mile. It was enough of a lesson to me, to never ever repeat again

Here’s mine. I’ve never used it for hunting lol. We use it at the beach to transport chairs, cooler, umbrellas, fishing gear, etc & sometimes drag it behind the four wheeler to transport firewood. It does a great job on the sand with two people pulling it. May have to give it a shot for hunting!!!

If you can use the "It's good for other things than hunting?" you probably won't have to explain another purchase. You've done well. Lol!

I bone mine out, but that JetSled has piqued my interest....how sturdy is it? Obviously it’s pretty stout if it will hold up to dragging through the woods with the weight of a deer in it. I’m thinking about getting one to use as a decoy sled.
It's worth every penny. I say that & haven't even used mine for hunting. Mines been drug across the beach on sand, basically sand paper, with chairs, umbrella, fishing gear, full cooler, and anything else you'd need for a day at the beach. It's been drug across asfault parking lots to & down fishing piers at the gulf full of gear. And it's been used around the house pulled behind the four wheeler, lawn mower, & utv hauling fire wood, brush, leaves, rocks, etc. & is still going strong. Just buy one, there's all kind of uses for it & you won't regret it.

Only if you want to help spread it. Hello no it’s not ok to leave it.

Probably deserves it's own thread, but I think there are compelling arguments on both sides of taking game with CWD away from the kill site versus leaving it.

I don't think it's so cut and dry...

Yep. Leave it. I would even go so far as to not sever any part of the spinal column while cleaning the deer either.

That was the first question I asked the young lady I spoke to. She said she wasnt sure and to hold on a second. She came back on the phone after about 2 minutes and said "yes screw in steps are legal as long as you remove them when you leave." I didn't ask about spurs specifically but after she told me that my next question was "so things can penetrate the tree as long as everything is removed when you leave?" and she said yes.

The question about deboning a deer in the field she knew without asking for help.

With that said you might want to call and ask yourself, I would not be surprised if you get a different answer but I've read the regulations thoroughly and they seem to match what she told me.

Where the skys are so blue!
Kind of getting off track, but always verify local laws for yourself. You're the one that has to pay the ticket Mr. Green Jeans hands you. If you can't point to the law on the book or produce written proof of an official giving you the go-ahead, assume the worst.

I keep a sled in my rig from Sept to Feb. I really like it. I put ties under the sides for the legs or cut them off. It keeps the deer clean, works on dry ground or snow, and makes loading in the rig easy by myself. Also no blood in the vehicle. Mine is just a cheap 5' sled the kids had. Its a lot cheaper and w/the ties its good. Put a pc. of steel under the drag rope to re inforce it.

I'll have to try the Jet Sled next year. I have one that I've been using for years to haul my ice fishing gear out onto the lake--never thought to use it for deer hauling.

BTW, if you want the Cadillac of sleds, get an Otter.

Otter is who quoted me $179 for SHIPPING!

My friend let me use his Radrover Electric bike with a Rambo cart. I can't drag any deer since I injured my back and pelvis at work and I have a bunch of friends that would help me. Didn't hunt much at all do to the pain.
