Gut Hook

A hunting partner gave me a guthook knife probably 25+ years ago as a Christmas gift. Thinking back, he probably got it as a "free gift" for signing up for some membership or magazine and didn't want it himself. LOL So I felt somewhat obligated to use it when we hunted together. The first time or two was a learning curve, but I got used to it and over time began to prefer it to a straight blade. A couple years later, I put a Buck Zipper guthook knife on my Christmas list and it has been a workhorse for me. Since I use more than one pack setup in a season, I added a Marbles guthook and then a Gerber folding guthook. Now I own several that have been added from custom makers and such. Like anything esle, it is a matter of technique and preference.

Get the grizzly creek from benchmade. Built in skinning hook, good s30v steel, jumping on top of the blade in multiple spots to give your fingers grip while skinning. But the gut hook folds away for when your not using it.

It's actually my daily carry, nice knife.

Side note, alot of the old traditional options from Buck are now being offered in s30v too
