Hollow brand alpaca socks?

Just ordered two pairs of boot socks and 2 pairs of crew socks, 3 pair at 33% off and the 4th pair was free.

Looking forward to trying these out!

My Hollow boot socks and beanie arrived today. The quality of both products out of the package seems top notch. The alpaca content of the socks are very high and I'm confident that they will probably be the warmest socks that I own. Time will tell how durable the socks will be.
The beanie is 100% alpaca which it should not be a durability issue in a hat. Its thick and warm. I'm confident that I will like it.
One minor complaint...someone in the sock manufacturing/shipping department wears cologne because I can smell it on my socks. The beanie is odorless but the socks have a slight smell of nasty perfume stentch. I'm sure they will air out but if I owned a clothing company, no employee would be permitted to wear perfume if they handle the products.
Minor rant.
The socks seem great so far. My boot socks also smelled fairly strongly of men's cologne

It took some effort to get the strong cologne smell out of mine. I soaked them in Sportwash/baking soda for a couple days and they still smelled. I soaked them again in a fresh mixture and they were better but I could smell old spice, axe or some other nastiness. I can't believe people actually apply that stench to their body.
So I ran them thru a cycle of ozone and laundered them. They still had a very faint residual of cologne but it wasn't too bad. I started just wearing and washing them for a few weeks and the smell finally dissipated. I'm not exaggerating how strong the original smell was.
But my only disappointment with Hollow is their reply when I reached out to them about it. They claimed that nobody at their facility wears cologne and that the odor must of come from somewhere along the postal system. Total BS reply.
I still love the boot socks and the beanie. I'm sure I'll eventually buy some more.

Received my order yesterday while I was at work. When I got home I put on a pair of the crew socks for a couple hours. My first impression was that they were “slippery” inside my boots. I got up early this morning to start my day and put the same socks back on. Mid day i changed boots as we were going somewhere and low and behold I have a hole slightly above the ankle in one already. When I get back home this evening I’ll take some pictures and contact Hollow and see where we go from here.

I wore the crew socks all day yesterday under a pair of Ariat cowboy boots. Walked around all over a park taking pictures of my daughter for prom night. Feet stayed comfortable all day, didn't get too hot or anything. I didn't notice any thin spots or holes in mine when I took them off.

Call me weird, but I did sniff them lol. I wanted to see if the claims were true! And you know what, they didn't smell. I was very impressed. If I did that with a pair of cotton socks that I had worn all day, I probably wouldn't be here typing this post out. I can see the headline now "Tennessee man dies from sniffing his own socks. Wife and children taken to hospital for treatment after close proximity exposure".

I just bought 8 pair of Hollow socks from this sale, and they are all going back. I have been using Altera Alpaca socks for couple years and they still look new (also have lifetime warranty). The hollow socks start "fuzzing out" after 1 wear and I don't see them lasting very long at all. The fit was also weird. Both the crew and the boot came up to my knees (I'm 5'9" - 11.5 shoe, ordered L) and the boot socks were just way to loose around the foot. The socks were very soft though and the beanie is awesome (only thing keeping).

The high content of alpaca is the one thing that makes me wonder how durable they will be. I too have used and loved Altera socks. Alpaca is hands down better than merino (which I also like) so I wanted to give Hollow a try. Mine are also a bit fuzzy but I'm not seeing that as "wear" at this point. Time will tell.
I suspect that the fit, and type of lining of the boots may effect durability.

The sizing and fit of the boot sock that I got from them fits me perfectly. I'm thinking that they may have sent you the ski socks. I'm 5'7" and my boot socks come up my shins about 2/3 of the way to my knee.
Something doesn't seem right about the order they sent you.

And yeah, the beanie is great. But don't wear it around multiflora rose. It'll snag.
