Hollow brand alpaca socks?

Anyone gone with the ski socks vs boot socks? I like an over the calf sock when I'm in pursuit of the wild games.

Received my order yesterday while I was at work. When I got home I put on a pair of the crew socks for a couple hours. My first impression was that they were “slippery” inside my boots. I got up early this morning to start my day and put the same socks back on. Mid day i changed boots as we were going somewhere and low and behold I have a hole slightly above the ankle in one already. When I get back home this evening I’ll take some pictures and contact Hollow and see where we go from here.
What did they say?

The high content of alpaca is the one thing that makes me wonder how durable they will be. I too have used and loved Altera socks. Alpaca is hands down better than merino (which I also like) so I wanted to give Hollow a try. Mine are also a bit fuzzy but I'm not seeing that as "wear" at this point. Time will tell.
I suspect that the fit, and type of lining of the boots may effect durability.

The sizing and fit of the boot sock that I got from them fits me perfectly. I'm thinking that they may have sent you the ski socks. I'm 5'7" and my boot socks come up my shins about 2/3 of the way to my knee.
Something doesn't seem right about the order they sent you.

And yeah, the beanie is great. But don't wear it around multiflora rose. It'll snag.

What did they say?

Been swamped with work and life, sorry for the delayed reply. They responded asking for pictures of the damage and then “they would look into it for me”. When I get home home this evening I’m going to send them some pictures and go from there. Other than this pair, my others have been good to go so far.

Someone said a pair of their boot socks didn’t make it through a season of deer hunting so I decided to test that out as best I could with no deer season. I wore the same pair of their boot socks for 51 straight days without washing them. They never got crusty, they never stunk, they never developed any holes and they continued to fit the same.

I finally gave up on the test, washed the socks and just tossed them into the regular rotation. Love these things.

51 days, talking about taking one for the team!!!
Glad to hear since I bought 8 pairs.

My second order of boot and crew socks arrived, scent free. I bought the first order to have for my Colorado trip in September but they have become my daily wearers. I am not too @dalton916’s record setting 51 day, no wash test trial yet, but today is day 3 and they still smell fresh.
I do plan on contacting the manufacturer and requesting them to make me some underwear to match my socks. With that combination I may not ever come out of the woods.

Update-after sending them some pictures of my damaged socks, they’re mailing a replacement pair. So we’re going to be back in business in a few days.

I bet it was a fluke. Good that they're replacing them.

I've worn my crew socks quite a few times, and all day on Saturday while turkey hunting. Feet stayed nice and dry, and temp controlled. I figured my feet would get hot, because it wasn't cold out, but they did not. They stayed well regulated. I'm quite happy with the purchase. Thanks again, @Allegheny Tom
