If you won the lottery tonight.....

I’d announce my run for presidency, and let the world know how the common man wants the USA ran. I would never win, but it’s stir up so much poop it would take a fire hose to clean up the mess.

Why we limiting it to state? I'm gonna buy an island and purchase a bunch of different herd of animals that I would like to hunt and populate it.

But if you really are limiting me. I'm going to buy a lot....I mean a lot of West Virginia.
I’m from there too and that’s endless adventure in those mountains. Money well spent

I know it's over, but my 2 cent.

I would definitely be buying a chunk or two in my home state of Virginia. Also would have to have a couple of pieces in West Virginia, Tennessee, Louisiana, one of the Dakotas and Alaska for sure.

As many acres as possible in Ohio (decent bucks and within driving distance of home). I'd probably try to find a spot where I would expect trespassing to be a bit less. I'd have to think about that one and maybe see if there's any data on it. I'm guessing suburbs you have a lot of people but fewer hunters and fewer "my granddaddy used to hunt that land under a different owner, so that obviously gives all his kin lifetime rights" types. Way out in the middle of nowhere there are fewer people but I feel that the folks there are more likely to trespass (mostly because they can probably get away with it easier).

With that kinda money. I could run a lot of trail..... I mean security cameras.

At $1.5Billion (only half that take home…) I think I would buy some land in many places. Iowa, Montana and here at home in VT. @Weldabeast is on to something as well… maybe some waterfront in FL with a nice fishing vessel to go with it.
Minimum of 100 acres in each spot.
In an interesting turn of events, the person who won all that money was in Neptune Beach Fl, just outside Jacksonville… the unfortunate part is it wasn’t me or @Weldabeast so all that lottery land is still a dream :tired:

I'd probably still hunt public largely, but I'm quitting my job and going hunting/fishing nomad and hiring all sorts of help for my wife and kids so I can go do what I want and lug them along. Caveat have not run that by the wife yet. Sept - Jan you'll find me all over the country chasing elk and deer. Feb - Aug fishing all over the great lakes and coasts chasing the hot bites.

The next lotto ticket I buy will be the first and I don't see myself breaking the streak, but maybe this is talking me into it.

I'd invest most of it like TBSTAAFL was talking about. With the income, I'd buy something in that 2 to 3 thousand acre range over in the MS delta along the river, hopefully get an island or three. I'd build a little cabin and live out there. Then to keep the wife happy I would get her an apartment in Manhattan, lol. I'd hire a couple of good guys to manage it, keep an eye on things. I'd hunt that and then for any out of state travel hunting I would just lease land in destination states. That way if I didn't like the area, I'm not married to it. For hunting in the US, I'd hire a sharp young person who loved hunting and their full time job would be to research state tags, areas, etc and keep me hunting whitetail deer from the first season opener to the bitter end each year. I would not want to know the details, just give me a list of the states and dates.

I'd do a lot of hunting in Africa in the summers. I'd buy a couple of top notch safari companies in the best countries and I'd probably live over there half the year hunting cape buffalo. I'd fly to London and have Holland and Holland fit me for a matched set of double rifles perfectly fitted to me, one in 375 H&H and the other in 470 nitro. Have them and 2000 rounds each shipped straight to my safari camp. I'd also have a couple of longbows and compounds over there too and plenty of arrows and broadheads.
Don't forget to bring me along for the ride! lol.

Think I’d buy minimum 400 acres in northern OH to see if a ‘lesser’ area can really produce, and then minimum 400 acres in a proven area somewhere east, west, or south of Columbus. Travel hunts to other states are so much more work, but I might change my mind on that with the new found free time.

Here’s my thing with buying land. I was fortunate enough to marry a beautiful lady that has 40 acres. My Father owns a 100 acre farm in East AL, and has 20 acres here. I can hunt all these as much as I want, and I do. But, I’m more about the adventure, and seeing new places. If I hit the lottery. I wouldn’t buy land, I’d be traveling all over the country. I’d start in Canada, and deer, and duck hunt from Sept to the end of January. I’d have a Mega bus with my own driver, enough room for the family. I’d have a tutor for the youngest to Home School with. I’d have a 2nd bus to house the cook, both drivers, the assistant, and the tutor while we were on the road to whatever hunting destination. Id rent a big cabin if I was going to stay for more than a couple of days. One bus would pull a20’ enclosed trailer that had the atv, and misc gear in it. The other buss would pull a bad to the bone International Scout Harvester, and the baddest Aluminum boat you ever saw. If I’m doing it, I’m going to do it right. when the season was over I’d head to the Gulf Coast and RedFish until it was time to go hunting again. All the while making millions more investing it wisely.

Man, I really want to love cold weather. My mind says yes but my body says NO, lol. I'd be living in Alaska today if I could do cold.

Why go to the gulf coast? The best red fishing is on the Atlantic side.

This is literally my worse retirement nightmare. I got 6 young kids and will retire once they are all working adults in 20ish years, if they all scatter all over the country as adults, wife want to buy a RV and spend months on the road visiting them. I HATE DRIVING long distance, especially some giant monstrosity pulling other monstrosities. Especially when the holiday season is also hunting season for whitetail. I'm not chasing elk in spring as an old man.

Give me land to wake up to the risking sun and the drew. I have been commuting to work an hour each way for the last 6 years because we wanted to live in a good school district. I'm planning to do this for another 20 years, but after that I have done my share of driving unless needed. They can come visit me.
