This is literally my worse retirement nightmare. I got 6 young kids and will retire once they are all working adults in 20ish years, if they all scatter all over the country as adults, wife want to buy a RV and spend months on the road visiting them. I HATE DRIVING long distance, especially some giant monstrosity pulling other monstrosities. Especially when the holiday season is also hunting season for whitetail. I'm not chasing elk in spring as an old man.

Give me land to wake up to the risking sun and the drew. I have been commuting to work an hour each way for the last 6 years because we wanted to live in a good school district. I'm planning to do this for another 20 years, but after that I have done my share of driving unless needed. They can come visit me.
Chances are they will be very busy with their own lives….or some may live with you till they are 30 :p , you just never know.

@shmelton and @NMSbowhunter seem to get the kind of affluence and lifestyle options this jackpot represented. I like both of their visions.

No intention of picking a "fight" with anyone... but generally speaking ideas about work, and near home, etc seem to miss how much that kind of money will change your perspective. To each their own of course. We all have our own values and desires.

While fun to engage in these what ifs, the odds are so bad as to make playing the lotto pointless. I'm not gonna say I've been as disciplined as @elk yinzer on that front, but I did not buy a ticket this go round, or any recently. Seems like the new normal is near billion dollar payouts and sadly, perhaps, that has become less and less exhilarating. Then again I'm not ruling out future purchases.

Sorry that I'm being a bit of a buzz kill. It is a fun topic and I appreciate the OP bringing it up.

I wouldn’t stay on a bus when I hit my destination. I’ll rent a house, or stay on a resort. The busses are to get us there. Nor will I ever be behind the wheel of my bus. I’m not driving, I’m going to be play XBox with the youngin. I pull a 5th wheel all over the country now with my family. I have made more memories with them, than I ever thought possible while on the rd. I want to continue doing it the Billionaire way!

Here’s my thing with buying land. I was fortunate enough to marry a beautiful lady that has 40 acres. My Father owns a 100 acre farm in East AL, and has 20 acres here. I can hunt all these as much as I want, and I do. But, I’m more about the adventure, and seeing new places. If I hit the lottery. I wouldn’t buy land, I’d be traveling all over the country. I’d start in Canada, and deer, and duck hunt from Sept to the end of January. I’d have a Mega bus with my own driver, enough room for the family. I’d have a tutor for the youngest to Home School with. I’d have a 2nd bus to house the cook, both drivers, the assistant, and the tutor while we were on the road to whatever hunting destination. Id rent a big cabin if I was going to stay for more than a couple of days. One bus would pull a20’ enclosed trailer that had the atv, and misc gear in it. The other buss would pull a bad to the bone International Scout Harvester, and the baddest Aluminum boat you ever saw. If I’m doing it, I’m going to do it right. when the season was over I’d head to the Gulf Coast and RedFish until it was time to go hunting again. All the while making millions more investing it wisely.

My Father N Law had one. It was a bad momma. I almost bought one a few yrs back, but replacement parts are hard to come by, and very expensive. But, if I was rich I wouldn’t care.

If I actually won the lottery I'd want two, one as stock as possible, and one modified into a crawler with 40's and a 6bt or something. But yeah, rust repairs alone requires a large amount of disposable income lol

When I worked at the tow shop (pre-9/11) we impounded a Scout, and the owner abandoned it. We called every owner and collector group we could find, hoping someone would buy it. Nobody bit, it was too rusted out. A few of them wanted to strip it for parts in our lot, and we said no, buy it outright and strip it at home. For whatever reason nobody would do that. Broke a bunch of hearts when it went to the crushers, but if none of the collectors wanted it, it must have been too far gone.
