Latitude Rebel Platform Initial Thoughts

Got an x-wing, it's sweet!! - short version

@Mopar1169 , thank you very much for offering to let me try your platform

-long version
Well I ended up with an x-wing I found a store with those in store too. I was able to try it and a method 2 at the store today. If either store had both platforms I'm not sure I wouldn't have went rebel to be honest.

Zero slip for me, but not hard to move your feet either. It's waterjet, and at least on mine the bottom side from water jet is up for the user, and it's sharp ( not deburred or chamfered /radiused) so I suspect if there's any texture on your boots that helps grip.

Locks on incredibly solid, took side pressure great. As usual there's a sweet spot for strap tightness and canning. I found it comfortable to lean, it feels kind of cramped standing up but definitely doable. Maybe if i had bigger feet ( size 10) bridging the gap from center to wing would feel better?

The leveling screw has a lot of adjustment, It adjusts about 45° down, and maybe 15° ( 20?) Up.

Mine comes in at 2 pds 10.2 oz, no strap.

No problem, it is a solid platform can't wait to put it to work this fall. WI looks like will be my first hunt. Then alittle Mi and out to MN after that.

Just out of curiosity which store had them in stock?

Long range archery in Holland. Also grand valley sporting goods said they had rebels. Neither had both

Also FWIW, I went out after raining all day and did a mini climb to put a camera up. Zero slippage, Irish setter knee high rubber boots.

I was just there Tuesday I must have missed it. I tried out their other platforms tho.

The one guy said he just put the trial on one out Friday. They've got at least one more and the sample. Didn't actually go to GVSG, just called but Friday I was told they have "like 7" rebels

@Ben C , you're pretty close , you're welcome to try mine if you'd like

That would be cool thanks. I think we might be even closer right now, I'm camping with the family in Fenwick.

Yeah, that's not far from here at all. Looks like 7.5 miles. I'm probably going to go scout even closer to Fenwick today. If timing allows we can meet today if you want

I wish, we just got home today so I'll be unpacking and cleaning out a wet camper. Thanks tho maybe before the season starts we can meet up. What did you think of the shop in Holland?

Are the xwings available? Latitude site says pre-order, not big on giving money to anyone without an end date

regarding traction on these....for me, i think it would primarily be an issue if my boots are muddy or its raining....otherwise the boot rubber is going to catch given the force involved, i think

folks are talking about textured coatings or grip tape....i just don't think that is going to work with muddy boots....you need something raised slightly that will push through the mud and dig into your boot treat.....otherwise you're just going to have textured stuff that is slick from being caked with mud....the texture might work okay with clean boots and rain.....but how often do you have clean/not muddy boots when hunting in the rain?

I've added a paracord cobra weave around the outside of the rebel and that should be all add all the traction I need given that I think it will be impossible to stand on the platform without my boots coming into contact with the outside edge.

You had a miserable Saturday to camp, for sure!

It was pretty busy so I didn't get a chance to talk to or interact with them much but I'd say it's probably a great store. What a huge amount of stuff in a little place. They were friendly, said it was cool to move platforms/ climbers to try them, try the saddles out ( i think there was only a method 2 to try). I'll go back, it's a good 55-60 miles too. How'd you like long range? I think in my limited experience they're better than GV sporting goods

I'm sure we can work out a meetup, I work over in Comstock park and have a pretty flexible schedule, shouldn't be too bad to figure out.

I thought Long Range was great. They were pretty busy when I went in too and the guy spent and hour with me. Definitely worth the drive until I buy a bow press.

I put this in new gear too but Latitude said mid September platforms will be for immediate sale/order
