Latitude Rebel Platform Initial Thoughts

First one we've seen and already everyone is a debbie downer, im thinking get it in a tree when its wet and see if there is a problem. Hard to tell anything sitting on a kitchen counter.

I really like the platform and expect it to be an upgrade, for various reasons, over the following platforms I've used:
  • EDP
  • Mission
  • Predator (gen 1)
  • Ambush
  • Assassin (the OG platform)
  • Ridge Runner

I've already added a cobra weave to the parameter so that will address any slickness with applying edge pressure and reduce foot fatigue from the thin edges.

Well got the x-wing today. Pretty impressed with this little platform. Rock solid on the tree cams pretty aggressive. Plenty of room to stand on facing the tree or sideways. I like having my feet closer to the tree. Bare platform weighed 2lb 10oz on my scale so 2oz heavier then the cad calc. Just gonna give it a paint job and run with it can't see much I would like to change. how are the welds on this one?

Thanks for the measurements!

Any real world weights on the plain (non x wing) one?

How will the X wing with its wider steps fit into most packs? Or will it have to be strapped to the outside of them now?

Turned sideways should fit in some packs at only 12 inches deep. Probably work best on the outside with the shape though. At the weight of it I don't think it would make any difference being alittle farther out it is so light. I am going to carry it on my platow. The teeth that engage the tree are stupid sharp so keep that in mind.

Duh, I don't know what I was thinking. That's obvious. It will fit in some packs that way for sure.

A pack with a MOLLE panel inside or anything to hook onto would be ideal, to keep the wing from pressuring the bottom.

I agree this lightweight thing isn't goi g to be much hassle on the outside and more accessible that way.

strapped to the outside is awesome with my platforms...allows you to climb with the pack and then remove the platform at height from your back without removing the pack....if you can figure out where and how to attach it

Got my X wing in today. Everything looks good.

I will try on the tree this week. Looks like they even have a spot lower on the post for a low 1” strap if you want to run some ROS steps in addition to the platform.

I tried my X wing out for a few minutes today. Worked pretty well in backyard testing. I even put a ring of steps thru the slot on the lower post and that did well too. The middle part of the platform is for standing (in conjunction with the wings) and the wings are made for leaning and getting to the backside of the tree.

Since the wings are the natural place to put your feet for leaning….. they should have made the back( non tree side) of the wing bar at an angle to accommodate the bottom of your feet. I am considering tacking a piece of flat aluminum in that spot.

The thought crossed my mind to add a bar also. But the boots I wear have a really stiff sole so I don't really notice the hard edge. I am gonna run it for a while as it is before I go down the mod road. I am sure the machining would of got pretty expensive it incorporated another axis into it.

You know it was mentioned some time ago....and I look forward to your future modification

the x wing came in over weight.....this is making me think the non x one is gonna actually end up at 3 lbs

I am gonna try keep this one stock for the flat carry on my back. My other platform is a pain to carry without the sticks attached to it. I gotta position it just right on the platow so it doesn't dig into my back. If I just carry it with sticks it is great because the sticks are flat against my back. The hard edge shouldn't be a big deal with the Crispi Thor's or my other pair since the soles are stupid stiff. Another reason I can stand any position on a stick without it bothering my feet. If I do add something later on it will just be a piece of 1" on a angle to keep weight down.

Yeah wouldn't surprise me if it 2 or 3 ozs over. The x I got is 2 oz over. Still not horrible. It is 2.7 lbs lighter then my other platform so I am happy.

that was bare without the strap, right?

just weighed my tethrd predator with daisy chain (3 lbs 1 oz) and my tree suit with daisy chain (1 lbs 12 oz)
