I used a mission the last 2 years and love it. Coming from a treestand I figured the bigger platform would be easier to get used to. I did buy a cruzr mini seeker to try this year. I prefer to lean and wanted to try the angled edge. I don't use a ROS, instead I set my top stick level with my platform so I use it to walk around the tree for my shot. Actually the 2 deer I've shot in a saddle have been off the top step of my stick and not my platform

Use the tether or ring of steps for mobility as well as during gun seasons. I use the mission for archery . Am a sitter not a leaner. Not sure I should have sold my ridgerunner… except it was really sharp and abusive to my packs

I'm waiting and hoping the Tethrd Carbon platform works out. If not or it's delayed til after season start in going with the Fix

Im not a fan of the ring of steps, I never could get them to be silent on pine trees. I live in GA, and I hunt out of a lot of pines.

I used a edp a couple years and liked it. I got a ridge runner xl towards the end of the season last year and I think I like it better so far. I figured out I could pack the RR xl in between my back pack and my back so it ended up being very convenient to carry.

Anyway, what’s the consensus on platforms? Y’all gave me some great advice on saddles. Tell me how to spend my money, on a platform.

There is no consensus on platforms. Literally none. Which is why platforms seems to be a multimillion dollar industry which introduces multiple new models every year.

If you generally like what you have, you might try to find a more refined version of it that does everything it does, but executes it better and more quietly. You can generally find an ROS on the classifieds section pretty frequently. If you can drill a tree - say, maybe a practice tree in your yard - experiment with 3-5 6"x3/8" Grade 8 bolts from the hardware store arrayed as a ROS and see how you like it. If you're intrigued by 1-sticking, a secondhand Hawk might be the cheapest way to try it out without fronting too much money. Some people don't even use platforms at all, John RB discusses standing on a stout branch instead of bringing a platform into the woods.

I like a larger platform.
I have a Mission and a LWCG Ambush. The Ambush is a little lighter, but the Mission cams over easier to me. The Ambush is very picky about how tight(or loose) it wants the strap to be in order to cam over properly, but is not a problem once you figure that out.
I use the Ambush - mainly because its a little lighter and folds a little flatter - for my mobil setup and the mission for presets. I personally don't think the Ambush is worth the price compared to the Mission price though....

I like my treehopper tree-suit. I am not a fan of the heavy, loud cam over strap though. Has anyone figured out how to attach one with Amsteel yet?
Yes, its all about attachment points. Think the tethrd sticks attachment point but 2 of them on the platform!....

I've had a mission, edp, predator, ridge runner, and ridge runner 2.0(got this one after the season last year).

The mission was just too big for me. Super comfy in the tree...big and bulky.

Love the EDP.

Really like the RR. It's a different kind of cam over, but it's really really solid when you get it right. And the width is really nice.

The predator packs super nice and is a good size. I wish it was just a hair WIDER. As stated, it doesn't bite as good as the others, IMO.

I think the RR 2.0 is going to be money for me.

Definitely no consensus on platforms.
what I don’t understand is this: some seem to be pining for a platform that functions in some way other than a camming action. IMO that is here to stay.
we can play with different materials and dimensions all day long. I think we’ll see more companies offer the same base platform but with different dimensions (EHDG).
As it stands today, I think the Latitude Rebel is at the top, also the top in price.
Matt at OOAL needs to make a platform using his 5/8” Shikar post instead of 1.25” tube and he’d be right there too.

Is there anyway to have a 15” platform that doesn’t cam? Hang on stands have been around for over 30yrs, and they all cam to this day. The only way to get away from the cam in a bigger platform would be a climber type platform. Then I might as well use a climber.

Yes, its coming....slowly like everything else but manufacturing is always the slowest part of the process!
