Suppose this could also be converted to an atc rappel device to get down.....
There are a couple better vids of this on youtube but this was a short quick overview of the method...I would definately use a tether combined with it. Tried it with 11 mm and seemed pretty solid,I only climbed to about 12' since I was just messing around.

Interesting.... at the very least I want to try it. Who knows when something like that could be useful. Getting down would be the hard part.

Wondering if you could lock it on the tree, repel down on slack line, then flip rope loose to remove from the ground. Interesting but looks to be more exertion with a lot noise and movement to be practical for hunting. I'll let you guys figure it out before I invest. ;)

You have no idea how good of shape that guy is in, not to mention he weighs about 140lb. He could probably grab the back of the tree and just walk up it without the sticks/rope. If you try it, video it. lol

Haha I agree! I bet doing that is not easy at all. I'll stick with my spikes and sticks!

I've tried it and got up on the first only to be too sketched out to get on the second and yes being in good shape helps a lot. I've been doing a lot of rock climbing this year and I wouldn't have been able to pull it off before. Maybe if I had some sort of dynamic rope lanyard would this be more fesable.
