Im currently in the process of make an XOP platform and stumbled across the lone wolf tree seat while googling. Lone wolf at one time used to make a Tree Seat that looks very similar to the XOP platform that we are building. This is all for information purposes only as they no longer make this however the video of this is still on there website that ill post a link to below along with pics i found online. Just thought id share for anyone to use for there projects etc. Who knows maybe lone wolf will start making them again after visiting this website. LOL!

They still make the seat part as a replacement, but it doesn't have the little ears like this one or the XOP.

This is one I got started on last night..

Now trying to find a creative way to add my whoopie sling to it...

Instead of a whoopie sling, f you splice your amsteel permanently to one side and use a jim stepp knot on the other like bowhunter15 showed, that should work.

The xop stand is I think $20 cheaper than the lone wolf too

I was contemplating adding a continuous loop to the platform on the connection end and using a toggle (marlin spike hitch) between the loop & WS. I use this for hammocks and it's very strong & effective. Shug on you tube explains it well

Definitely going to try the JS knot, good call!
Also you don't need to permanently splice the eye to the other side of the platform. I just spliced the eye and girth hitched it to the platform, and JS knot on the other side. So I could remove the rope if I wanted.

Yes that's another good thought!
My only concern with that, and I may be wrong but I think a girth hitch may be a larger stress point than just the splice itself. Probably not a big deal, just thinking out loud.

That would just distribute the force over a larger area reducing the load.. The girth hitch that is.

It is a lower stress on the platform, but I believe a girth hitch does reduce the break strength of the rope, as do most knots. Take a percentage off a really big number, and you still have a really big number.

Yeah bowhunter15, that's what I was trying to say, thanks for clearing that up.
Apparently my brain wasn't communicating very well at 4am lol.
And yes agreed, that's still leaves a large margin of break strength.

Google soft shackle and use it to join the loop to your seat. They are supper easy to make with amsteel

They basically replace a carabiner but with no metal. I've made many of them and they work well.
