Just long enough to add an extra step to each stick. 22+/- inches to the foot loopSorry to be more clear, how long is the aider. That seems like a very simple solution for me.

I 2nd using a movable, single step aider in conjunction with the sticks you already have. I started with lone wolves, and sold them to chase literally everything else. Currently I'm using bolts and a hand drill, but I caught the API sticks on sale and really like them after cutting to 24" and using an aider. I can hit 18-20ft with 3 and a single aider.
I personally dont care for aiders, but the way a single moveable aider braces against the stick makes it very stable.
That sounds doable, depending on your height. It's so easy to tie a single step aider from 1"tubular that I think everybody with sticks should at least try it. I dont think you'd lose that much height with your muddies vs my APIs.Makes sense. What do you think about using three muddy pros. First stick use a 5 step aider and single steps on the other two? Not sure how highly that would get me but I’d hope at least 20 ft
I use the davet style. Simple and effective. Those of you using a moveable one step aider. Do you prefer a DaveT style aider or swaider?

Funny you should ask. I was going to try to do something this weekend. I'll have to see if the weather/wife cooperates. This post form @Cain is very similar to my method though.Boyne Bowhunter. Could you possibly post a video of your method? Or if someone knows of a video link to something similar reply with it.
X2 on the @DaveT1963 aider. Those of you using a moveable one step aider. Do you prefer a DaveT style aider or swaider?

I'm single rope rappeling off a girth hitch at height and using a pull down rope to loosen the hitch and retrieve the rope.Just watched it and that clears a lot up. I have never used a saddle but am fairly familiar with all knots and gear used with this method of hunting from rock climbing 25+ yrs ago. I would like to see how you are setting up the repel rope on straight trees without something to hang half the rope over to double line repel down. I suppose you could just bring 60’ of 8mm and put a figure 8 on a bit in the middle wrap around the tree and threw itself and go down. Then maybe use the gear pull line to loosen the pass threw where the rope is wrapped around the tree.
I use sterling htp 9mm. it is 62 g/meter - so 11 meters/36 ft would be ~680g or 1.5 pounds. I have a 150g petzl delta link on the end of my line (makes it easier to pull the rope down, not essential). I use a madrock safeguard as my rappel device (154 grams). A figure 8 is a bit less (say 100 g). a couple of prusik loops (e.g. 2 13.5 in hollowblocks) are say 50 g total. So roughly 2-2.5 pounds for a typical rappel setup.Does the weight of the rope and figure 8 add much weight to your setup?

Kestrel with a "short bridge" (I use a looped hollowblock - there's a picture of someone else doing this around here, but there are lots of ways to do it.)So are you able to repel using the saddles or are you using a climbing harness? Sorry for all the questions I’m trying to figure out how I want to approach this method. I’m leaning toward a kite saddle but I’m wondering if I may have more freedom using a sit/drag and a climbing harness.
Love your climbing method...Great video.!!!!.. Quick question... what is the size/color and length of your climbing rope..where did you purchase it and your Mad Rock descender as well... also..where did purchase the cam cleat for your Helium stick mod...your video was just what was looking for...:0)))) going to try Saddle Hunting for Sure Now!Funny you should ask.
