Looking for Someone Who Can Sew

For some time now I've been working on an idea about making sewn on aiders for my Hawk sticks. I've finally come up with a design that I want and I'm looking for someone who can reliably sew 1" nylon webbing. This would be the same strap webbing that comes with the sticks. I would provide all of the materials except thread (don't know whats best) and would have everything laid out and tacked together. I do have PayPal but would be willing to make other arrangements if necessary. I've considered getting a sewing machine but really don't have the room or the experience. If their's anyone on here that does this kind of work please let me know.

I can't sew, but I'm curious what design you have come up with. Would you care to share?

First two sticks will have 2 step aiders and the second two will have singles. Nothing earth shattering, just have the webbing folded over and a loop going through the middle slots in the bottom two steps on each stick. In the step portion of the aider I have some orange webbing to help open the stirrup and for a little better viability coming down in the dark. Similar to some rope models I've seen on here but the webbing packs up better and is better for foot placement. Have been using a double movable aider system all season but think these would be quicker

I can hook that up.

It would be 92 thread = 22.5 lbs a stitch

I wouldn’t charge much, but have you checked any local sew shops? May get it cheaper than the shipping costs two ways and buying me dinner

I'll do some looking around locally but if I can't find anyone, I really appreciate the help! How do you like your aiders? That's pretty much what I'm wanting to do for mine.

I like them, working well and since they are single and the step holds it open I don’t have any extra material on the step section to hold it more. I made one for a buddy on the bottom steps for one of his hawks

Did the 1-inch webbing fit through the sticks easily like it did on your beast sticks or did you have to mod something?

Mine are API, slot is right at an inch. Muddy is about 3/4 inch slot, so the webbing is slightly bent on the edge, no big deal

I rounded the edged for the slot on the Hawk's then folded the webbing over and want it sewn doubled over. It will look just like the loop that goes over the versa button.

check with most dry cleaners some of them do alterations as well. I had one redo some curtain lengths, just tell them to use some super strong thread. They charged me 35.00 which is not bad for the thick curtain material we have.

Getting them done now. Think they are going to be the ticket..hoping they will be quicker in the dark than the movable aiders I've been using

When I need something sewn I look for my nearest military base. There is always a squared away mama san with a sew shop by a military base used to fixing and altering gear. They always have the big needles for thick material too.

I posted about aiders passing through the loops on my Hawk Helium steps back in August and was told by several members here that they were unsafe. They were done just as yours are except I just tied a stopper knot behind the step. I didn't think they were particularly unsafe and just kept using them. Did you ever have any problems with yours?

No issues. Used them all season. What did people say was unsafe about it? Kick outs are more likely and you need to be slow and careful when climbing, but I feel they are safe.

The safety issue is probably because the step could break in that little spot where the webbing goes through. You are placing all of the weight into that spot instead of spread across the whole step
