Michigan '24

I’m not a Michigander (cold weather, who does that lol) however if I can assist yall in anyway at all please let me know. Rooting for you guys to keep on growin

I'm probably the guy for this. Thanks for the info, and your support!

If I pursue a special use would I just be asking to be allowed to shoot bows and climb trees? Willing to do my homework on this, just checking if as a group what we think we'd need/ want out of it.

Later this week I'll narrow down the suggestions and steer the thread towards making some decisions. I wanted to wait a week or so before getting into it too far so hopefully everyone had a chance to see the thread
I will gladly try to help out where I can @Horn
I wanted to keep pushing this more. But my family life has prevented it from happening. Looks like archery "practice" is open to any public hunting land. State park he said may be a different story. Even though sleepy hollow for example is open to public hunting. Not sure how the law goes there. Would probably be worth a email or phone call. But seems any other open public land would not have any issues. Just really narrows down the locations.

I kinda feel like to make it bigger it would have to move more into summer? But has to be big enough for guys to adjust their schedule. Taking a Saturday morning to hang out in the spring was more willing than say a peak summer one.

If anyone has a preference to time of year I think would help. Would you be more willing in the summer if there was more going on to participate in and do? Or doesn't matter. Spring was just better.

@Horn, based on the early responses it looks like we might have quite a gathering this year. With that in mind we may need to seek out a spot with a few more climbable trees than the last couple of years.
It does seem we've got a lot of interest this year, awesome! whew, I've got 43 people tagged. Definitely going to need more space if we have that good of turn out!

I am going to look into locations this weekend. I'm not sure where the morning went today but be on the lookout for a post with some options everyone.

As far as timing would say early June work better than early May? Weather would be more likely to be nice out, and it would dodge most of turkey season. Which reminds me I need to apply for my tag.

It occurred to me that I may need to go scout a location or few before we make a decision. I'll e- scout some first and follow up with a trip probably next weekend.

I'm eyeballing either
May 4th or 11th ( mothers day is the 12th)
Or
June 1st.

All of them Saturday

Still working on rods. Opened my mouth too soon

Went and scouted some locations today. How much parking and how many telephone poles do we need? I know no one has a crystal ball to know for sure.

How do y'all feel about early May vs June 1?

Now it's time for Lions PLAYOFF football!!

GGGGOOOOOOO LIIOOOOOOOONNSS!! ( if you haven't ever been to game or didn't know we have a fight song, Gridiron Heros you better study a little so you can sing along after TDs. ;))
