Milk weed container

I been looking for some here in SE Michigan. Haven't found any yet. Guess i'm stuck with talc powder...
I've got a ton in Battle Creek if you can't find any, but I usually find them on the side of a back road in full sun.

I drill a hole in the bottom of a film canister. It will hold about 4 pods, which is usually a full seasons worth. It even fits perfectly under a loop on my backpack's shoulder strap, so I can just reach over my shoulder and grab/release. It even pulls the next bit of milkweed partially out of the hole, so it is basically a self feeding system.

its what I use, but found that you can take a small drill bit and drill through the rubber-like cap/top with your fingers. Think I used a 5/32 looking at my bit box
Then pack the canister full and put on the cap. Then insert same drill bit, twist a few times and pull milkweed through. Like Ike said self feeding after that.
The pliable cap is also somewhat self healing so it keeps the stuff where its supposed to be and not in your pack

The next time I run into some I will pick it for you. And then pm u for address

I do the bottom because I sometimes pull the lid, put a machine screw through it, and mount it to the threads on the end of my stabilizer. I don’t do it often because I have to reach around my bow to grab milkweed.

A couple pieces of duct tape cut about 2 inches longer than the pod. Encase the entire pod except the slit. Throw it away when empty. Been doing that for years.

I've been using milkweed for many years and I'm convinced that my way is the best way to pick, store, prep, and use them.
1st off, there's no better container than the pod that God put them in.
The only issue and it's easily fixed, is the pods open as they dry and the floaters all out, make a mess in your gear, or get lost.
The solution is to pick the pods while they're green and wrap each one with a rubber band. They'll dry and remain closed as long as you leave the band on.
Floaters are easily damaged when you stuff them into another container and damaged floaters do not float as well on air currents. A pristine floater, taken straight from the pod, will drift on air current much better.
One more thing I do is attach the pod to a clip so I can't drop it and I don't have to search in a pocket to find it. The pod gets clipped to my coat and I always ready to release a floater instantly.
Try it this way and you'll never again use a container for floaters.
I'll upload a pic via Tapatalk in a minute. Seems the photo is too large to do it through the forum.

Here's the way to rig a pod.
My newest attachment is to poke a tiny wire tie through the pod and then through the clip. Easy and very durable. Sorry I don't have a photo of the wire tie rig.
