Just thought I’d share. Removed the original rope. Camo them up and attach Amsteel 1/4”. Good to go!!

I'm still concerned with the amsteel in the cam cleat. Let us know how it works out.

Will do as soon as I get a chance to climb. I did notice that I have to set the rope deep into the cam in order for it to bite properly. I also plan to tie a safety after I cam the rope just for safety sake just as I did with the original rope on the muddy pro

Agreed. Did you tie it in a knot in the stick? does it crush bad in the cam cleat?

So far so good. Yes I tied a large knot in the stick. I also plan to tie a few knots along the way for extra cam grip to double prevent the rope from sliding through the cam cleat.

No sure what you mean by “crushing it bad” yet the cam will grip the rope properly if seated deep inside the cam all the way

Do your sticks have the rubber coating (bed liner spray) on them or are they the bare alluminum? If coated, how is the paint holding up? I have considered painting mine because I think the black stands out way to much but trying to decide wether to strip the rubber off or paint over them or stealth strip them. I may add fixed steps and drill holes in the posts to lighten them up a bit, and I may just sell them to fund or build something lighter and a bit longer.

If you sell them, let me know. I’d be interested in buying them!

I think they’re saying crushing it bad because it’s hollow cord vs. non hollow like what comes on the sticks. I’d be a little worried it could slip through the Cleats since the amsteel can squish down farther being it’s hollow.

Sorry I just seen this. Trackers answer is what I mean by is it crushing bad. I am worried about the know slipping form inside the stick and you not seeing it (because it’s inside the stick)

I’m not aware of a rubber coating. I just spray painted over the original black and orange for the same reason. I also have a weird addiction with camoing everything

I tied a pretty fat knot so I highly doubt it would slip through the hole. One way to double prevent that from happening would be to tie an extra safety knot and then even glue the knot(perhaps Gorilla Glue) so it for sure wouldn’t come undone. I’ve also considered splicing it around the stick itself

This is my concern with amsteel for this. Also for kicks in my garage one day I tried hanging on amsteel with a ropeman. It left visible distortion marks on the amsteel.
