Muddy or Lone wolf??

Well after reading all these posts, I appreciate the info!, and going back looking at what the helium mods are, I bought the helium. I couldnt find a set of 3 but the hawk website has singles for $34 so I ordered 4. I really like have both sides especially on the top but being a big guy I like 2 feet on at a time when I have to use my hands! Thanks again for helping out the new guy! Cant wait to post a pic of my first deer taken from a saddle!
 
You will be happy with helium's especially if you do the rope modification as a minimum They are usually cheaper than lone wolf or muddy too.

You have to try the rope mod. At least on one stick to try it out. I was leery at first, but it's solid, much easier and quieter.

These are the sticks I'm working on in my spare time. Total weight without rope is 1.5lb. Total length is 24", longer than Muddy, because I'm 6' tall and can utilize the bigger spacing. Similar to muddy dual step but fixed, which saves hardware weight.

I'm still contemplating adding cam cleats. They are more convenient than the versa button rope mod, but also heavier (both the cleat and the heavier rope vs amsteel) and the cheapest I've found is ~$16 each for that addition.

I have used the lone wolf sticks and I don't like the staggering of the steps. I also am not a fan of the length of the steps they make it hard to move in thick areas without getting caught freqently. Recently purchased Jim stepps from Wild Edge Inc. If you haven't seen those yet take a look.
 
Being the rookie climber that i am, I have settled on 3 hawk helium sticks with the versa button on strap from lone wolf ( i was not a fan of the rope) and I also use the Jim Stepps to finish the climb and use them as my platform, another one for my bow and back pack hanger. I know everyone wants lighter and less, but I am going with safety for now.

I wanted weight reduction, After all that's the reason of having the system anyway. Double step just adds unnecessary weight in my opinion. Cam system also adds unnecessary weight. Also needed an extra muddy stick to get the same height as LWs. Now that I have thrown the strap mod on I'm 18ft-20ft up with only 3 sticks.

Both systems are great but it's boils down to personal preference and mission. I sold the Muddy(s) after trying both systems.

I totally agree on the weight reduction... double steps is nicer, but I can deal with a single step when there is a reason like weight reduction. I have a set of Lone Wolf's that I'm impressed with so far. I also just picked up a set of heliums to try. I saw someone mention having a double step on the top step. I thought that made a lot of sense... having it just where it makes a lot of difference. One of the things that looks cool about the hawk helium is that I can remove the extra steps that I don't want to save weight. I'm considering modifying both sets by shortening and going with 2 steps. Since I use a saddle (sometimes I climb with a rope) I don't want the approximately 30" length of the 3 step sticks to carry around because they catch on things so much more easily if you are trying to squeeze through tight places.
 
I saw that on the step that's why I didn't buy it yet. That one looks fastened a.d doesn't fold up, but what keeps it from tilting or worse going vertical
 
Those seem like a really good deal!...... why can't I find anything about leverage climbing sticks are they out of business?

This is an additional way that rotation can be stopped on a double step. A slot cut out of the step the same width as the stick.
