I agree with this which is the reason I haven’t used a pattern with such light colors. They are great for elevated hunting, sky-lined trees, open timber or light grassy/rocky terrain but not so great on the ground in dark terrain/timber. I don’t mind looking like a limb in the tree with darker patterns. Everyone has to know there background and what movement they can get away with, but to each there own.

Anyhow getting back on track.

I can’t wait to hear some reviews on the flex. Because saddle hunting is the in thing now I truly think this will sell well. My feelings are that we’re going to see a lot of guys that are just getting into a saddle, maybe bought a used saddle or a mantis and haven’t really given it a good amount of time get everything figure out and maybe not as comfortable as they had hoped. They buy the flex thinking it’s a quick fix and more than likely find themselves in a similar situation. It takes time. For me, as a newbie, it was a full season to figure out what I was doing, get everything just how I like it, get into that “saddle shape” and into a system. Practicing for a couple hours is one thing, sitting still for a few hours is another when it comes to figuring out comfort.

And then you have the rest of us who will buy because we just like to try new things and can’t help ourselves.

Besides, yet again AH offers a saddle that gives people what they have been asking for. Options, camo, design changes and a function we haven’t seen before.

Absolutely. If anything realtree moves they'll probably spot that too. Just don't move. Problem solved.

Seriously, I've watched great egrets fly past deer down on the riverbank. They noticed it, but they didn't associate it with danger like another deer's tail. If an all white bird with a 4ft wingspan doesn't trigger a reflex, I doubt a patch of white on your butt will.

But yeah, as long as you're not waving it around and stompin' and snortin' I think white is fine.

You are all afraid of a little white in your camo pattern to help try and break up your silhouette a bit but have no issue with 5 step aiders swaying in the breeze.... interesting....

How much difference can the camo pattern make on a saddle anyway? Heck, it's only about one square foot on your butt... Patterns are probably more about pleasing the hunter than the hunted, which probably explains the reactions the new Flex patterns are getting. If I'm not uncomfortable in my Kestrel then I can't really think of a good reason to upgrade to a Flex (even though I do feel that urge to have the latest & greatest). I can always retrofit my Kestrel with a tubular webbing adjustable bridge (I wonder which 3-bar slider they are using?).

I do really like the Broadside Closer (to please the hunter)... but I hear it will still be several weeks before they get any of that particular fabric from the supplier.

I think the flex design will be more of an improvement for sitters. Leaners are probably better off staying with their Kestrel if they have one already. Or just use the flex in the unflexed position. I’m eager to hear what the sitters have to say about it.

I’m surprised they don’t offer a third size. Is it just me or is the average adult male going to be close to “on the line” between a size 1 or 2.....

You should listen to the podcast Boswell and Garrett did. If you are between sizes Boswell said to get the size 1.

Is it like an expandable suitcase with a zipper? Is the flex area stretchy? I was going to get the Mantis to replace my DIY sitdrag this summer, but the Flex has caught my interest. Thx.

I am under the impression it is simply a pleated piece of webbing. There is no "flex" in this webbing but you can move the straps around kinda like an anderson tree sling.

Looks like they were listening and addressed the problem. I'm sold on the adjustable wedding bridge. Wonder if they are going to make these options available to the kestrel or even sell something similar as an accessory?

I believe I saw them reply somewhere that they were not because its sewn in on at least one side.

I agree. I went with the sewn webbing bridge. Looks like it'll be pretty slim and out of the way.
