Thanks everyone. Just placed my order for a medium mantis and a predator. Can't wait to get some practice in this spring/summer.

Welcome also from the northern part of Southern MD :). I use multiple methods to climb....one of which is a muddy or one lone wolf stick to climb with an aider. My favorite is preset trees and treehopper bolts. Seriously considering carbon bolts for this year....but Im 210 lbs and Ive bent a tree hopper bolt or two...from reaching to far or putting a lot of pressure on a bolt to do something odd...like reach out an clear a branch. So Id have to be careful not to do that with the carbon rods. Plenty of time to have fun, I mean practice in the off season. If you go with a saddle, do a platform. To me a good lightweight platform is game changer for using a saddle.

Last day of the season, I went out with a sit drag/rc and home made platform. The sit drag to me is more comfortable then my NT Evo. I was in a thick area and had two doe come in. I turned around 3-4 times on the platform from left to right- to behind me...pulled the bow back at least 4 times thinking Id get a shot. Finally I got a shot off to the right of the tree/weak side. I would have never gotten away with that much movement on public if it weren't for the cover of the trees and the ability to turn on the platform like a hang on. I liked the sitdrag/platform so much...it might have me going back to saddle a majority of the time again next year. I also promptly ordered a predator platform. My homemade one is ok...but I like the design of the predator and think it will be easier to hang.

Oh shoot, I didnt see your last message. Lol....congrats on the mantis and predator. Having the platform makes a big difference IMHO. Now just find a few good methods to climb.

Welcome! I'm in Gastonia, NC. Other than doing a BUNCH of research like you're doing, is to try absolutely everything you can! It's one thing to watch a video or read reviews, but trying things for yourself will definitely help you make a better informed personal decision. Good luck!
