New Re-designed Windwalker Treestand

Dang. I had no idea about the price increase. Around a 30-40% increase. Kind of takes away the appeal of that stand.
Wow! That’s crazy. Gonna price themselves out of business. I mean obviously there are a lot of stands already at a higher price point, but considering you could’ve purchased this stand for $100+ cheaper a few months ago, just not seeing it. I bought a Helo a few months back for $205 after a 15% discount. No way I pay $340. Can still get a Lone Wolf Alpha 2 on Cabelas for $270.

With the Novix insane price increase. These look like an even bigger bargain!

Wow. They must’ve just updated it because it was the normal price a few days ago. I was really considering a Helo but think I’ll just stick to my Windwalker and XOP for hang ons.

I will add that Guidefitter still has the old price plus the discount. I just noticed that. So if you’re a member there, better jump on it

Does anyone with the Treehopper WW and fleece pack miss not having a hipbelt? Do you find the shoulder straps alone carry with the pack comfortably when loaded up with the stand and all your hunting gear? That's really the only thing holding me back from trying the stand. I typically enjoy having a hipbelt on most packs.

My original one has a waist belt. I'm glad its there. Would take less than 5 minutes to add one with 1.5" webbing though and a couple fastex buckles if it didn't. Don't let l
That hold you back...

That is true. I'm trying to talk myself out of buying it I guess lol. But the way the stand and pack integrate is too slick.

My only other reserves are the lack of platform leveling and the attachment strap. Have you found either of these to be an issue?

The main concern with the strap is that the buckle is on one side and cant be quickly swapped depending on which side of the tree I'm hanging the stand. But I'm also the fact that it has to be threaded through the buckle every time. I'm thinking the strap could be easily replaced with something else, so that my not be a big deal.

As far as the platform leveling, not sure I could change that. But also not sure I'd miss it all that much.

Leveling has never been a problem,, and neither has the side the buckle was on.

Feeding the strap is a hell no for me. Replacenitnwith the original hook/metal loop setup mark is going to reproduce, or as per @WHW Direction, replace it with an ameristep style hook/cam strap. Both work great, again to swap to a good strap is a 5 minute mod. You can buy the straps from @DanO

Don't hesitate. With the pack its a spectacular setup. Like hard to beat.

Got one on the way. Looking foward to trying it out.

It was not that long ago that a Alpha was $350. If Mark is making the Windwalker out of old inventory, expect a big price increase when he has to make them at today's metal prices.

Was able to get out today and do some tinkering & shooting. Here are some pictures of the set up I’m going to use for next season if anyone is contemplating buying one of these stands.

I’ll be using it as a hybrid set up.
Beast Stick One-Stick
Slanted Scout on the bottom
3 Step ultimaider with the Pack N Play
Saddle (tbd, but likely the CGM Cobra)
Figure 8 to rappel down

Precisely how I imagine using my stand!!! Great minds think alike I guess. Only difference is haven’t tried the one stick thing yet.

Wow I bought my wife one for Christmas that was on sale for $192 on a Cyber Monday sale. I had been looking at the LWCG .5 but could not get past the price. The Helo was much lighter than the stand she was using so it would ease her back a bit. She is Transitioning to a saddle. That is crazy!

Ya the prices have gone up by close to $100 in the last few months. Last fall and early this winter you could get one with promo codes or sales for around that $200 mark. NOT now they are $330 on Novix site currently. Due to price it was gonna be my choice as the functional abilities are mostly the same as the LWCG .5/.75 so for the price it’s worth the savings. Now for $200 more or the price of the entire stand before increase you can get all the functions. Now the .75 is actually almost identical size wise as the .5 is still a tic smaller and might be the choice if minimalist is truly what your looking for. I tried a beast stand and think the potential for it being the choice is there it’s just a bit to much of a footprint for what I’m looking to do. If a smaller version was made I’d have to try not to buy one. Still the LWCG stuff has that ULTRA packable systems which coupled with the functions make it still heads and tails above other stands. I’ve seen .5’s with 4 double steps packed in their integrated system that fits inside medium sized backpacks. Or on a mystery ranch pop up sandwiched in the meat hauler section and you can barely see the stand. This is what truly makes the money spent worth it in my mind. The LWCG, helo and beast stands all hang awesome in trees but the pack abilities of LWCG puts them on top of that pile.

The pack came today. I think i'm going to like this. There's enough straps to strap my Novix mini sticks to it. Also a couple of big pockets to hold essentials. Can probably strap an extra layer on the outside as well.

I didn’t buy the pack as I just slide it into the meat hauler section of my mystery ranch pop up 28 and it fits nicely. I did make some slight functional mods and a few cosmetic ones too. I added some pipe insulation as a pad for the front seat bar and gonna use it as a knee pad too. I also used a combination of left over stealth stripes covering the sides and rear tubes and seat bar. Along with a paracord cobra wrap along the front edge cuz I use it as a no look reminder by feel where the front edge is and cuz I just like the way it looks. Last thing I did was go to Lowes and bought some textured patio furniture spray paint which is a light brown and painted mesh steel top and bottom sides and rear tree angle. This is a flat paint with slight texture which will eliminate boot squeak on smooth metal and it blends in nicely with stealth strip color. Gonna try and replace hardware with grade 8 bolts and really thinking of trying to drill holes for 3-4 bolts either side of the tree V for better grip when attaching to tree. Also really thinking of trying to use some daisy chains as platform adjustments but we’ll see how much time I end up having.
