New Re-designed Windwalker Treestand

Has anyone weighed their stand? I know the original wind walkers were made at a couple of different weights. Would be interesting to know what this one weighs, as well as what the fleece pack weighs.

Here are some pictures of my beast sticks strapped 2 different ways as well as my one-stick with a scout on there. I took some pictures of the top pocket too. In the top pocket I had that tethrd pouch in there (4 x 8’ tethers inside), a mail pouch with some Predator rope and prusiks, and then you can see a 2TC kit and some other random gear I’m testing this week. I didn’t take a picture of the bottom pocket, but it has 2 sections of 40’ rope and some prusiks in it.

I may have to order the pack. Looks pretty slick.

Me and a buddy spent most of the day testing out different gear and trying to figure out what we’re going to use next season so we can get it dialed in so we’re not trying new gear while during season (like I did all last year).

We had a 2TC kit, a few different types of sticks, and a couple saddles & stands to tinker with.

The first method I tried was
15” EWO FeatherStick with cam cleat
Angled Scout on top
3 step Ultimader
Loc On Windwalker
Loc On fleece pack
40’ Canyon C-IV
Figure 8
Separate 8’ tether for going up and at height

The way the stand pairs with the pack, the amount of room it has in the pockets, and how the one-stick packs on the outside makes this set up was awesome.

One-sticked up the tree, usually 2 or 3 moves to get 15 to 20+ feet.
Stood on the scout and put up my bow/gear hanger, hung the pack on the hanger, sat back down and weighted my tether, unzipped the pack and let the stand slide out of it, and hung the stand on the tree about even with my scout. I had planned to replace the strap it comes with, but it was easy and after setting the stand, I was very surprised at how solid it was.

The stand is surprisingly comfortable and had more than enough room for sitting, standing, or leaning (size 9 boot).

We tried all our other gear, but I had my mind made up on what I was using next year and spent a couple hours with this set up after we ran through the rest. I was able to climb up and have the stand set in 5-7 minutes from having the one stick in my hand to sitting in the loc on. This was on a tree without limbs on the way up, FYI. I’m not a speed guy, but in a hunting situation (with limbs and being quiet) I could see doing this in 10-20 minutes with minimal effort.

Another benefit of the stand paired with a saddle is that when sitting in the saddle with the seat folded back, it was the perfect height for my knees and with the seat bearing padded all the way through, this eliminated any need to knee pads or a Knushion-like item.

I was very surprised and have changed my view on what I think my best set up for next year is. The price of this set up compared with the weight/comfort/pack ability is well worth it in my opinion.

I don’t think it will be too much of an issue with the Windwalker not having leveling capability since we have mostly oaks and can typically find a straight tree; however, I’m keeping my Hush stand just in case.

Thanks for taking the time to go through this @Arkie !!

Mine came in today. It really looks well done and man is it light... and quiet in that pack!!! I was surprised at how beefy and solid the stand actually looks and feels compared to pics of it online and its weight. The cables also are beefier and larger diameter than what they appear in the pictures. So far I'm very pleased with it.

Mine came yesterday.
Initial impressions

1. Light
2. The pack is perfect for the purpose
3. A useful tool in certain situations
4. The pack takes away the greatest reason I don’t like carrying a hang on. It makes the stand easy to carry and is quiet.

The only thing I would like to see are square end caps for the uprights for the seat. I don't like them open like that but those are easy to find and the tubes are probably 1" square.

By the way, I picked up one of Treehopper's tri-fold knives when I ordered the Windwalker and for $27 I don't think you can go wrong for a dedicated kill kit knife. It has the gut hook, saw and regular knife blade. Its stamped "Treehopper" and the build quality seems excellent. The sheath is well done too with loops for either vertical or horizontal belt carry. I would just keep it in my pack as part of my kill kit but if you're in the market for a cost effective well made knife for field dressing and skinning and even to trim branches while in your saddle, this is a great idea. Much lighter than carrying a saw and a knife etc. Just a suggestion.

Maybe I missed it but how come noone has posted pics of the tree stand on an actual tree?? Or is everyone hunting in their living rooms with a remote and a bag of dehydrated backstrap?
Just poking fun, and I'm sure I probably missed it anyways so fire away!
When you're done, maybe snap a picture of the stand on a tree? That is of course, unless you have already, in which case, my friend hacked my account...
Thanks guys.

Oh and I might as well add:I've been keeping an eye on this thread for some months now and its reminded me just how comfortable the old windwalker seats were. I'll probably be ordering one soon. Thanks alot SH!! Happy hunting.

Thanks everyone! I dont blame you guys for staying out of the weather. Im finally worn down after 3.5 months of hard hunting so I understand.

I know this has been touched on already but it just dawned on me while looking at these photos; im almost certain the early big game stands had a very similar setup, with basically the same buckle IIRC. I want to say that in the end, i loved the way that strap worked. This has been atleast 15yrs ago so dont quote me but i think the strap was permanently attached, as is the windwalker, which made it VERY easy. Easier than your standard LW style strap because it could be done easily with one hand.

Would i be incorrect to assume those of your who have this stand have come to like the 2in strap setup?? Should be a very stable stand...

I had planned on removing the stock strap and installing Versa buttons on it; however, I ended up liking the strap that came on it. It was very easy to hang.
