I have been playing around with designs quite a bit and I think I’m going to settle on this one. I wanted a Knaider Swaider combo that didn’t require any weight bearing stitching but at the same time didn’t sacrifice strength. I used all spliced 7/64 Amsteel for this project. I also didn’t like the idea of a plastic buckle on the knaider in my head if I ever slipped and put a load on the calf strap I wanted It to hold up so I used an aluminum COBRA buckle. Even with the beefy parts this full set came in at 12 oz. I am pretty happy with it but I thought I’d toss it to you guys and get your thoughts and feedback. The nylon webbing over the Amsteel works a lot like the zip ties or calf bands you’ve seen, you just pull it up to expose a bigger loop to put your foot through, then smooth it out to keep everything clean and tight to your foot.

Good luck this season guys,

Evan

Where did you buy all ur materials and buckles and such

I need to post pictures of mine in here. I’ve thoroughly tested them and am happy with the results.

I used 1/8” Amsteel and made two woopie slings. I use the whoopie to keep them tight on my feet. I like your idea for the calf strap. I’m currently using a 1 inch elastic material but I have to step through it.

I’ll get some pics up tomorrow.

Amsteel style knaider and swaider. Where I sewed the shock cord and elastic band; you could just tie knots. The whoopie sling cinches right to the boot and comes undone easily. I like the elastic calf strap because it has give. The buckle won’t come undone because the strap allows the hook to leave your shin. The hook leaving my shin doesn’t affect my stability at all; I find it helps.

I like the looks of that.

Does that thin amsteel cut into your boot when putting your weight on it climbing?

I don’t find it bothers me but that’s because I find the knaider/swaider to be a fairly quick process.

If it did bother me I’d do a cobra weave on it with some paracord like estew22 did and see how it goes.

I think I just came across something when I was going thru some stuff. A swaider may be soon to follow.

Can someone tell me what I have to do to attach a picture. It keeps telling me my image is too large.

All on Amazon, just took some researching. Once I settle on a good design I will do a build along with all my parts

When it does that to me I go to my photo and crop it down, it seems to work most of the time.

I use an app called image size. Before using it I found screenshots would usually post. So I would take a picture then open my album take a screenshot and crop the border. It usually posted that way.

Tapatalk will always post the pic if you’re using your phone

A picture can be a maximum dimension of 1600 pixels on a side so it may need to be resized. Lots of ways to do this, the guys made some good suggestions above.

Evan, could you make me a set without the carabiners, I have plenty from rock climbing.....I’d be happy to pay you,
Pat.

@Pj0230 Honestly I am re-working this design. I have done a lot of field trials with it the last week and I am not happy with it. The amsteel is tough, but I don’t like the way it’s looking after a lot of contact with my muddy sticks, I am going to switch the design to climbing rope.

For all the guys out there asking, I think once I land on a design I will do a big build along. I unfortunately do not have the time with a full time career and small family to build these for everyone. I promise the design will be straight forward and easy to build. Thank you so much for all the interest you guys! This site really has a great community surrounding it!
