After a year of use and field testing the nucanoe I will put my stamp of approval on it.

Pros: quiet (as compared to aluminum canoe), paddles easy and stays on track, can access spots with as little as 5 inches of water, holds up to 500 pounds, seat moves forward and back which allows for better weight distribution, optional cart makes loading and unloading easy, low profile, lots of mods and attachments. It is very stable (important when you must enter/exit in waist deep water). I love the large open design that really allows a lot of room for gear and stuff, I never felt crowded in mine. Has a place for trolling motor and battery which will be nice now that fishing season is approaching.

Cons: a little on the expensive side, a little heavy for a kayak, second cart is better if you must portage for a long ways

Overall I am extremely pleased with my NuCanoe purchase. It easily handled me, all my gear and a 200# buck with no problems. It is easy to navigate on small streams and easy to hide. I made a video and its on my You Tube channel of a few of the mods I made. I will try to make an update video soon. I really enjoyed hunting out of it and it gave me a stealthy approach and opened up some land that was inaccessible by foot.

Probably not for everyone but I am glad I made this purchase.

Thanks for sharing Dave. It looks like you got good use out of it this year. I was looking at them when you first mentioned yours and they look pretty nice. I have a pretty good fishing kayak that I plan on trying to use to get in to some new spots I've found in the future.

around 80 pounds - but with the transport cart it is not bad at all. I also bought an after market cart that goes under the middle of it and I can easily pull it with one hand over some rough terrain. I like it over a canoe because if you ever try to get in and out of a canoe that is floating - well good luck. And it is superior to my kayak because I can easily haul 500 pounds in it. There are trade offs to everything, but I own all three kayak, canoe and NuCanoe, and this is the one I grab every time for hunting.

Good info. Thanks.

I've been looking at picking up a boat specifically for hunting this winter. I wasn't planning on spending quite that much, but I may need to look a bit harder at the NuCanoe.

I originally had some sticker shock when I looked into them, but after researching canoes (new, not used) their prices are not all that much higher than new 12 foot canoes. It will probably be a few years before I take the plunge, but I hope to be able to do something like a nucanoe

Good point. However I have a very hard time paying retail for new gear. I almost always buy used on craigslist, ebay or a forum. Even my bows are used.

Smart man G2. A little patience will always expose the people that compulsively buy something that sounds cool and then realize they aren't the slightest bit interested. Then it goes straight bro Ebay or Craigslist at a sharply discounted price.

Ya, but those shorter poly canoes are hard to come by used. There are loads and loads of 16 footers, but I can't handle one of those easily by myself with gear. New, or used, both types of boat are currently out of my price range. But, functionally speaking. Hybrids like Nucanoe or Hobie look to be much more ergonomic and adaptable.

Did you have a dealer near you? Would really like to try on before investing

I took the plunge and bought new about 2 weeks ago. Wait time is a couple months. But as a saddle hunter I have pre ordered a couple things.

I drove 9 hrs for a used F-12. It was worth it. Selling the stand up bar, trolling motor tiller extension and set of scupper hole dollies.
