Official Predator Platform review thread!!

So speaking of predator mods...

$10 Allen cartridge holder and some high-strength polymer micro-cinch fasteners. Holds 9 bolts conveniently at your side so that they can't rattle together and can be retrieved NOISELESSLY one at a time.

Now that is slick!! Can you post a closeup of how it attaches? This would be perfect for the trees I have preset for bolts

Absolutely not, I'd have to put my beer down to do that. ;)

Seriously, I'm not a complicated feller. Three zipties ran through the insides of the elastic loops and around the two center beams of the predator bottom. No muss, no fuss, and easy to undo if you get tired of it.

I'm taking it out tomorrow to give it a field trial. I'd like to add about 3 more bolts and a loop for the EZ Kut too. I like "grab and go" stuff.

Whatever you do, DON’T put your beer down! And you completely got me with the “high strength polymer micro-cinch adjusters”

.
Well, my predator and a few other things showed up yesterday, I was too busy playing with it to post anything.
This thing is amazing, I don’t know how no company has made something like this before.
I kept it below 6’ all afternoon and evening yesterday and it felt great.
Tonight I grabbed 4 wild edge steps, my knaider and swaider and climbed with my new Tethrd linesman rope up to about 22’ and hung out on my predator platform for a good hour. There was no noise, no creaking or popping, no discomfort from straddling the tree like I’ve done for years with my ring of steps.
I really can’t wait to hunt off of this thing.
Tethrd really nailed it on this platform, at least for this guy.

I tried a 1/4" amsteel daisy chain last night that seemed to work pretty well. I need to give it a few more trials to be sure but my firsst impression is it is quick, easy and felt secure.

What length of rope did you start with and where at did you start adding loops/brummels?

Never mind. I just started with a generous amount of amsteel, spliced an eye on the end with the tag somewhere in the neighborhood of 4ft, then started making loops. On the opposite end I spliced the two tag ends into each other.

Verdicts out on whether this is better than a webbing gear hanger. Initial thoughts are that it’s a little more bulky than a webbing hanger. Will tinker with it in the tree tomorrow.

Gotta say splicing amsteel is actually ridiculously easy. First time I’ve done it and didn’t need any special tools. I did lock the spliced with speedy stitcher thread. Since this is just a gear hanger and not under load I’m not worried it will pull out at all.

Received my predator Thursday and was immediately impressed. Strapped it to a tree in the back yard, was rock solid on the tree first attempt... Friday I went ahead and bent the spring on the buckle to avoid any fraying of the strap (I did not notice the strap catching the spring, however I did not play with it enough to allow any chances for it to happen). I also took the platform apart and put bow wax on the spacers/washers (I did not notice any squeaking or popping that others have mentioned but I waxed it just to prevent any noise). I then applied the @g2outdoors paint job, my paint skills aren't great and it doesn't look as good as what others have posted, but I'm happy with it... I'm completely stoked about hunting with it and VERY satisfied with my Predator Platform... THANK YOU TETHRD!!!! The platform out of the box was of great quality and I had ZERO problems with it. Can't wait until my mantis arrives...

Finally had the chance to get my Predator on a tree. Here are my thoughts as a COMPLETE saddle hunting noob.

Pros:
1) Compact, compact, compact!
2) super light, like won't feel it on your back light
3) bites the tree really well, lean adjust screw works great
4) its more obvious to avoid breaking it than what I would have thought. First time I mounted it it bit too well and I had to let off a little.
5) As much side pressure as I could put on it could barely budge this thing.

Cons:
1) Creeks a little, but I can fix that
2) The biggest issue for me as a new Saddlehunter is that the platform seems very soft. Like I can feel it move and give under my feet. Not sure, but I think I could see the post bend as I shifted my weight back and forth. Could be a problem. I'm already uneasy at heights, so I'm sure this will not help. But hey, its aluminum and less than three pounds. So long as it holds, I'm a happy man.

Great job Tethrd folks!

Yeah even the cast XOP seat platform had some give to it. Can’t say I ever saw the extruded tubing flex, though would be difficult to even notice.

Good to know! I figured if others hadn’t mentioned it, it must be normal for platforms. Like I said, new to saddles so I have nothin. To gauge by. I’m not even very experienced with lock ons. Most of my hunting has been from ladder stands and shooting houses.

I couldn’t rip the tissue open either. I saved it. That’s the mark of guys that pay attention to detail, and that is a company I want to do business with!!!

The predator is THE BOMB
