Im working on ordering stuff to get this all together. My plan is to use tubular webbing to play with at ground level to see what length bridge works best for me then make a rope bridge. I need to order either Amsteel or Predator to make my hunting bridge with. Which is better or is it just a matter of preference? What length rope do you normally start with to get your bridge? Is splicing it going to be the best bet or can I tie a knot in it?

Also what carabiners would be best to get?

Splicing would be best because it’s less bulk and you won’t have a knot in your side. Amsteel will be lighter and a lot smoother sliding in a carabiner as a bridge. You want to stay away from knots in amsteel. It’s very slick and may not hold knots.
I can’t remember the names of the carabiners but there are many post about them.

No wild edge stepps?

On a serious note if you plan to use amsteel as a bridge make an adjustable amsteel bridge and skip the webbing since it’s a pain to untie after weighted. I think adjustable amsteel is going to be my new bridge. As you spend more time in the saddle to get in saddle shape you will find you can shorten the bridge some. I’m sure I will have to lengthen mine some at the beginning of next season but it is probably 6 inches shorter now than what it took to be comfortable last September.

Very good to know, thanks!

all saddles should have a belay loop. none of the hunters do, but maybe one day they will evolve into the best climbing platforms.....as they are sitters

your question depends on your saddle
with a sitdrag/rc harness your linemans belt is all you really need for a bridge...I mean it is a bridge, just on the wrong side of the tree....but you need that belay loop to safely get it in front of the trunk

Im thinking a lot about replacing the bridge on one of my TL with amsteel but am a bit reluctant still.
