Over 250 club challenge

I'm likely in. My wife and I did keto last year and I got down to 225. I'm back up now to 280. We have been trying to kick start it back up, but the holiday has me eating well. I don't know if I will wait until 1/1 to begin, but I likely wont be dieting at Christmas... so we'll see.
I do better with motivation and/or competition as well.
Back about 15 years ago, I had ballooned up to 316 pounds. My wife and I started a weight lose challenge with weekly rewards that were of an...uhm... adult nature. I lost 90 lbs in 8 months! ;-)

Oh. Starting 242

Now then, get your equipment--your quiver and bow--and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

Good luck, I'd join you but I started the journey the fall of 2018. When season started I was a bit over 250 (6 ft tall) . By the end of the season I managed to cut my weight to 215. I managed to hold myself at 220 most all year and coming back from 2019 camp I was down to 205. I haven't been under 200 since i was in high school. I must admit I think I'm a little too light right now, I'm tired all the time, and would prefer to be in the 210-215 range. However, my knees feel better and its easier to get around in the woods.

My trick was basically to quit lunches (really only one meal a day since breakfast is a cup of coffee) and to limit my intake of "white stuff" (bread, rice, pasta, etc) and no soda. I can't call it Keto since I still eat pasta a couple of night a week and can't quite give up my beer. :) If I do need a snack its only a small portion peanuts or cashews and instead of soda I drink water or juice (orange or tomato).

I started doing the one meal per day.. extended intermittent fasting also. My problem is I need to quit eating the whole kitchen and cut out the white stuff. I havent lost alot but have maintained my earlier weight loss fairly well. Amazing that not really hungty untill around 5 pm, then I am looking to chew my arm off

Well, I cant help you out there brother, but maybe she can be convinced to get back to the reward routine!

Im not sure I could do the one meal a day thing. I will give it a go though. I have some particular circumstances that limit the type of diet I can participate in. I think I can handle low carb, so long as I can sustain it long term. My big thing, like @GiGisDaddy, is portions. I need to slow down at meal time. Old Army habit of scarfing everything down in record time tricks my body into NOT realizing ive had enough until ive had to much!

Why not I’ll join in. Was planning on trying out the keto craze anyway. This might be a good way to stay accountable, be competitive and maybe even share some tips and recipes that are practical and useful. Not some stuff you have to have a part time chef to cook for us. Currently at 240

IMO it should be more about percentage of body weight lost than total pounds lost. Post your starting weight and your ending weight then divide the smaller by the larger and see what percentage your new weight if of the original.

IF a man weighs 300 pounds and loses 100, there isn't anyway for a man to beat him that isn't bumping 300 pounds as well.

Count me in. Though I might have an unfair advantage as i have a wedding weight to hit.

Good luck everyone. GF and I are currently doing this ourselves and we do it by percentage to make it a bit more even.

The formula to calculate your weight loss percentage is: lbs lost divided by starting weight. Then, multiply the result by 100. So, if your starting weight is 150lbs and you lost 5lbs, you've lost 3.33% of your body weight.

I was there a few years ago - or pretty close. I cant join the club but anything I can do to motivate or encourage i will do. Doing KETO and changing some habits I dumped almost 40 pounds and have kept it off for two years now. I am getting older, and I don't think i could still be doing what i did this year had i not made that choice about 3 years ago. Best hunting decision I have made in decades. Good luck guys.

I'm fine either way. This is more of a motivational thing than it is a competition. If I was competitive, I wouldnt weigh what I weigh in the first place! I'd be schoolin folks on the mat!

I am in too. 2 years ago I was down to 195 and hunting season was great. Last year I was up to 205 and hunting season was still great as I was still in great shape. I am now up to 225 (6feet tall) and hunting was a bit of a struggle this year and I vowed to get back in shape for next year. This will be a good opportunity to have a little added motivation.

Hunting has been a bit rough for me this season, too. I was feeling real good last season after a few months on Keto... weight was down and energy was up.
This is our first year living in SE Kentucky, and these hills are wearing me out, big time!

After reading everyone's post, I'm in also. I got on the scale this morning to see how bad the holiday food was to me. The scale said, "get off you are hurting me". LOL I have always been a big guy. I was up to about 320 at one time. Several years ago I got down to 230, I didn't recognize myself. I had surgery and couldn't do anything for a month and light duty for the next month. I lost all of my motivation after that. I have been thinking it would be easier to get up the tree if I wasn't carrying so much extra poundage. Right now I am 286. I will be 50 by next hunting season. It does not get any easier. I'm glad you posted this.

I’m in,I’m at 335lbs right now and this is my first season hunting in about 15 years and to to say it’s been a struggle is an understatement, so the extra motivation and support will be a bonus. My goal is to be 250 by opening day 2020.

Good luck to all who are going to lose the weight. In march i was pushing 250 and started the keto, adkins, low carb diet. 55 lbs later, off hi blood pressure medicine, no acid reflux and just feel better at my current 6'5" 195 weight. Hope all of you have great success with whichever weight loss program you start.

So, I had an epiphany today...I'm fat. Not your standard "I've put on a few extra pounds and need to hit the sauna" fat, but the "holly crap, I cant see my saddle buckle" fat. So, I've decided that its time to bring it down to my comfort level. I've always been a big boy, and do not have delusions of grandeur. Im comfortable at 220-225. A far cry from my current 270. Thats gotta change. But, I am no longer self motivated enough to just do it. One upon a time I could control my weight like a prize fighter, but I don't have that get up anymore. I work much better under pressure. So, I thought I would reach out to some of you fellas that fit the same bill and see if anyone was up for a weight loss challenge? Heres what im thinking:

1. Honor system. Weigh now and then again in June, 2020.
2. Most pounds lost at the end wins
3. Sign up here with an "im in" and the challenge starts 1 January 2020.

For motivation, I will throw in one of my "super ninja homemade so use at your own risk single stickin madness" sticks. Its a modified 20'" Hark Helium with cam cleat and amsteel with aluminium platform welded on the top for the person that looses the most weight. Ive been using mine for the last 2 months and it holds just fine under my girth. Looks like the one below, only new and not wrapped. Ill even add the aider. If anyone else wants to throw gear into the pot, have at it!

I'm in. 5'9" at 235ish. 210 is just about perfect for me.
