I don't have any Amsteel blue and don't have any plans to purchase any.
Other than a ratchet strap are there any alternative rope knots people are using to hold their platform up?

IMO the amsteel whoopie sling is very difficult to manipulate and setup at hunting height.

@g2outdoors recently posted a video using a cam buckle to cam an XOP platform over. I tested this out yesterday and it is MUCH easier to use than the whoopie sling. You can buy the replacement cam buckles right from XOP or Lone Wolf's website.

That's what I did with mine. The only thing i noticed is that the buckle is near your foot and you could step on it causing it to loosen. Probably not likely though

Seriously like the lone wolf strap a lot better, than the ropes, even if a little heavier. This locks super tight!

I was experimenting with this today. Ended up deciding the Stepp Knot was the best and easiest option.

Utility constrictor rope that Ernie supplied with the platform kit. Is that amsteel? I just pulled out the sliding loop end and used the main rope with loop on one end and and tied the Stepp knot on the other. Worked very well.

I also had issues with the whoopie sling but chalked it up to being a newbie. Thanks for the ideas! I have extra lone wolf straps, I'll give one a try.

Do you try to cam over with the stepp knot or just set your platform then tie your knot?

I found similar level of frustration with trying to cam over the stepp knot, but didn't have a chance to test just tying the knot on the tree.

I cam over just just like you would with a Jim Stepp. When the rope is set right it snaps over and is very solid.

You can go on you tube, and g2, has a video of the lone wolf straps on the platform. They work great .
