Platform

I would suggest it, I tried it without for a while and noticed the holes starting to oval in the post. I added bushings to all of mine.

I don’t have a bushing in mine but it seems like it might be a good idea. I’m only 160lbs but I will check mine to see what a season did to my 3/16 wall post.

Would a cleat or versa button and strap work on the XOP style platforms? Or do they need to me cammed to keep from pulling away from the tree?

The cam is key. You can't get it tight enough with a versa button or cleat. I think with a ratchet strap, you could do it, but most people don't like the ratchet noise.

I have been looking at them on Amazon much cheaper than $30
Ernie, I was looking at the small cleats FYI if you happened to be looking at the cheaper cleats I found. Lol. The mediums are around $30. Lol

Yep, they are 10-24. I tried to use the muddy cleat, but you will notice that if you remove a set that the post is special machined with a curved slot.

It took me forever to find a set of cleats on a base.

I'm going to go buy a couple more today and I'll post a picture. I wish they were cheaper, ($30) but pay once, cry once.....

The nuts are inside the post, but that required me to drill a pretty large hole to use a socket.

I hope to find some longer bolts to be able to put the nut on the other side

My sticks are going to be quite thin. I’m worried about drilling a big hole in the back for the socket. Are cleats like the muddys available without the base? I can machine the slots for the cleats
How much force does a 200lbs man standing on the top step put on a 10/24 bolt?
