Platforms and COLD FEET

I’m a bad hunter so I’ve been out late season to -3F and my feet froze on my platforms even with chemical toe warmers. Pulled the heat right out of my mukluks. I know there are some carbon fiber platforms in the works, until then I’m going to have to try the heated sock approach I think.

Anybody have a pair of heated insoles that they like? My feet are the first thing to go and it ended and all day hunt at 11 AM last Friday. My feet do ok down to 35ish but once it gets colder than that it’s only a matter of time.... Any other cold weather foot warming techniques are welcome as...

I did a rope wrap on a Hawk platform, because it was too slippery and it was quieter too. At the time I never gave a thought to the insulation properties, but I suppose it would work. I may do a rope wrap on my new Trophy Ridge Mission platform....I don't use the Hawk any more (too small).

I would not wrap any Hawk platform. A Hawk platform wrapped in rope will only cover the cracks in the platform when they happen; leaving the rope off will allow you to see the cracks better.

I still have one on my Summit climber. It does work well for warmth and it also makes it easier to stand on the platform.

What cracks are you referring to....weld cracks?
I inspected the platform thoroughly when I purchased it and there were no bad welds or cracks. Plus, I've since replaced it with a Trophy Ridge Mission platform and intend to sell the Hawk platform.

Go to home depot or lowes and get a kneeling pad. Cut to fit+zip tie and you're good. Cost is around $15 if I remember correctly.
 
I put steath strips around entire platform to give some protection, but likely isn't do much. I tried heated socks and they were not the answer. I also tried the heated insoles a few years back, they didn't do much good either AND they were BIG cash and broke to top it off. Only thing I've found that helped was using an over dose of chemical warmers. Depending on how cold it is, I use the stick on toe warmers for early season where it isn't to to cold, and then I step it up from there. I put the mega-super-body warmers right inside my socks when it is bruatally cold out, 2 of them in each sock IF needed. Never get cold feet. No, no burns from them either.
 
My wife has Reynold's as well and her feet were always cold ! A buddy told me about Boot Suits. Insulated boot coverings that are a lot quieter than the Artic Shield stuff. She tried the whole outfit of arctic shield and it didn't keep her warm plus it was like wearing a crinkly plastic bag. Ive had 3 Hawk platforms for 3 years & theres no cracks. I do put that grippy tape for docks n stairs on them for grip & have had no problems.

I would use arctic shield boot blankets with a hand warmer inside each (super warmer by hot hands).

It will insulate the bottom and all sides of your feet. With them, I can wear 400 gram thinsulate boots down to very cold.

Be aware that their sizing is weird. I wear 12 wides and had to get their largest size. This is commonly discussed. They make the very end of the blanket too pointy and unusable. I emailed them to basically say "no one hunts in pointy cowboy boots around here....so you might wanna model your fit off a hunting/hiking boot".....I said it very nicely, but no response or change.
