Possible ropeman/prusik alternative

No there is not but DIY Sportsman took some video at Saddlepalooza if you can sweet talk him out of posting some. Or maybe donnieballgame has some. I could maybe do 1 when I get home but wouldn’t hold my breath on that one. I’m not G2 or Flinginairos. But there is a YouTube video of someone climbing with I think a LW bottom section and a TL saddle. That’s where I got the idea from. Any climber bottom section will work. But XOP and LW Hand Climber seat section works and it comes in at 3 pounds or under never weighed just guessing. So you have climbing method and platform in one application. Lightest most compact method IMO. Also only need saddle and tether no lineman’s belt. So Saddle tether and seat complete method. Maybe 6 or 7 pounds. If you want to climb around limbs add a lineman’s belt and aider or strap on step. I’ll look for the YouTube video. Ok just watched the YouTube video it’s called climbing without sticks. The guy has a LW hand Climber seat and I have both it and the XOP you can’t tell the difference. The one thing the guy doesn’t cover is tree diameters. Larger at bottom smaller as you elevate. You must hang in your saddle and shorten the length of the strap on the tree as you climb. It takes some practice also don’t forget to tie your platform to your tether biner so if you drop platform it doesn’t fall to ground. It’s not for everyone but I’m no spring chicken and it’s how I hunt 90% of the time and I have all the methods except spurs and just sold mine at Saddlepalooza. Kinda long winded but if you watch the video don’t see how you wouldn’t try it.

@bongo.
This demonstration was one of my favorite things about SaddlePaloosa.
I stood there in amazement as you climbed!

@bongo is the man. Besides climbing like a squirrel, he was first there, first in the woods, and definitely could have killed a hog if he wished. If he goes next year I might have to convince Madelynn that we have to leave camp so I can tag along with him in the woods.

I second this. He was generous enough to tote me and @bowhunter15 up and down the river trying to get us on a hog!

We need to do it again next year maybe I’ll bring a bigger boat.

How big a boat do you need? Would a 16’ double wide Jon boat work?

I had a 14’ 36” bottom and one morning in the fog I had Garret and Red crawling out on logs to pull the boat across logs. It was awesome the river was running hard and I crashed a couple times. The bad part was I had a GoPro and forgot to turn it on. Definitely one of the highlights of the trip was that morning in the fog. So answer to question is want bigger to haul more people but bigger wouldn’t have worked that day. There was one about 1/2 mile stretch that the bigger boat wouldn’t work the rest of the river it would work fine.

I have a Lowe’s 1648. 15’10” 48” bottom. I have a 25hp 2 stroke merc on it. So not much bigger than what you have. I remember duck hunting one day in the South Shenandoah, frigid cold, light came up and we saw logs & trees floating down the river. Definitely not a good situation. If I am able to make it this year, I will bring it down.

Sometimes I will bring it down to obx with me too fish the sound.

So many great memories from saddlepalooza. That trip up the river in the fog was one of the top ones!
