Cajun - if you want to increase longevity of the paint - clear coat it with a flat clear gloss rated for outdoor. I did my heliums that way and they have went through 2 seasons of pretty hard use and paint is still holding up good.

Yeah I don’t really care that much. I won’t be standing under it and thats all the deer will ever see, and there is definitely no big broad pattern to detect. It does’t really need to be a big production. The bed liner should be really tough, it has silenced the ringing and it has a texture to it which will help with traction while standing on it.

Also I”m not going to use this very often. Sticking a ring of steps in my sys hauler is just way more convenient and lighter than hauling this out, but I have it if if I need it.

Copy.

- for those that go the bed liner/paint - a quick coat or two of a UV flat clear gloss will really protect your work :)

Just wrap it in camo vet wrap and be done. It applies easily and works great. Buy 3" rolls at tractor supply and cut them to the same width as the diameter of the material you are wrapping. This is a diy platform.

Do you know how many ounces it added?

Hey, even if it doesnt hold up well across 100% of the coating, it will still cover 90% of the platform which will deaden sound pretty well. The coating will help absorb the "ting" sound even where metal is showing.
Coatings do cover up any structural issues with equipment though. If there are any cracks in the platform, you may not see them. But if you are using your saddle correctly with safe practices, then you ain't gonna fall.
You mentioned the strap buckle is what made the noise...a lot of guys use a piece of bicycle inner tube to mod buckles, which would be easier and cheaper than dipping the entire platform.
Not knocking the dip job...looks nice.
Just giving a few other points to think about.
