Well with that said-when I finish my Ten Point Estate project, Like many bow hunters I'd be honored to have your "Mommy Wagon of Death" on the premises....I'll bet you do get a ton of offers -somebody always wants something- I'll still be a big fan anyway!have been offered to hunt managed properties by other hunters and have always refused.
Yeah I let my wife, kids, and our dogs blow up half (30 acres) of my private property that has two different food plots, but I keep one food plot and half of the acerage for the bucks to eat and bed in.I hunt 70% private 30% public.
My own property is by far the best hunting grounds I have access to. However as much as I love hunting i love my kids more. So my property gets well used for atv/ jeep rides walks and fishing. That doesn't help the hunting but I'd rather have my kids enjoy it than have them sit in the house .
Where are you located I think I saw you were southern NY? I here you on the snow I haven't even done my usual winter work I still have over 30 inches on my private and public for that matter. To make matters worse the deer go 10 miles east of me to yard the last week of the season so you really have to scout during the season if you want to see anything fresh. They will be back as soon as the snow melts and I hate to push them in spring.80% private, 20% public. Been trying to incorporate more public to keep the private fresh but this year took a step backwards. I decided that I did not scout enough to wander the woods with my limited time trying to scout and set up ... Once this snow is gone, I am going to start to scout for next year on the public I want to hunt.
Do you use rabbit distress calls or can you bate them to kill them? I need to trim a few out myself. Last year I shot a deer and had only my bow 12 of them followed me after dark from where I gutted it to where I was camping. Only when I lit the campfire did they give up on the venison. Can't even carry a pistol legally during bow season.First year saddle hunting, I don't own land, I'm 100% private, have 4 parcels my hunting partner and I rotate ranging in size from 100 acres down to 30. First parcel was offered after helping a rancher with a coyote problem, and word spread from there and now we manage coyotes on the other three parcels. We've been blessed.
