Not sure if that is sarcastic, but I would hate for someone to get hurt like that, slipping out of a sit drag.

Absolutely not. I truly appreciate it. Again I am new to this style of hunting. I don’t want to make a mistake simply because I didn’t see a key feature in a video. I have bought a sit and drag. While waiting in it to come in the mail I did my best to make a saddle I think would perform and be safe. So no sir. Not sarcastic. Just appreciative. I am old and fat. I don’t want to fall out of tree from 3 foot off the ground much less way higher at hunting height. That is why I am asking so many questions. So no sir. Not sarcastic at all. I simply don’t know, so again, thank you for taking the time to mention it in a post so I don’t end up hurting myself. That is why I was also asking about the leg straps and if they are weight bearing. I’m not a rock climber. Never have done any kind of climbing. I have no clue other than what I am picking up from here and or videos. And trying to make my own I have the plastic clasp holding my leg straps closed right now. I know they are not weight bearing. So I need to order some. Bow season in my state is 40 days away. I intend to practice with rhe saddle over the next 40 days getting in as many trees as I can that would be similar to the ones I think I will find while hunting. Learning how to hunt some 30 plus years ago as a young teenager magazines and books is how I learned then and I made my own hang on stands etc. we never had any kind of safety harness back then. I remember tying a rope around a tree and around a heavy duty web belt I bought at a military discount store. We didn’t have any kind of climbing accessories other than screw in steps and pick a tree you could reach around and hold on tight as I lugged my 30 plus point hang on stand up the tree. I have been very appreciative of all the kindness shown on this site and the folks who have been willing to help. Your comment confirms my fear that the leg part of the harness is as important as I think it could be. Again not sarcastic. So thank you for taking the time to clearify and I hope you have a blessed week.
Dale.

I have areohunter evolution and I just wear it in and leg straps are on because there are no buckles. It never bothered me even though the evo is rather bulky compared to todays saddles. One less thing I have to carry if I wear it in.

The less I have to do at the tree the better. I like to have my saddle on and ready to climb. I will even hook my bow to my Doyle’s hoist while it’s in my hand so all I have to do is set the bow down, strap on my spikes and climb. I’m usually in tight to bedding so stealth and minimal movement is key. That’s just how I do it and there’s really no wrong way.

Thank you, I think I may well end up buying one down the road, I am going to give the one I made a go and maybe even make another one and modify it a little more to my hunting style as I use it some. I appreciate you taking the time to answer and give me your input. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a blessed week.

That makes perfect sense to me and like you said you are already ahead of the game once you make it to your location. Thank you sir for your advise, it is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dale

Might be selling the evolution after the season. You'll see it in the classifieds if I decide to sell it. Hard for me not to buy the new stuff!!

Awesome, Yes sir, if you don't mind let me what you decide, I appreciate you letting me know I have been looking at the main 2-3 I have found online and I am sure one made for the specific task at hand would more than likely fit my needs better than me guessing on how to make it and make it fit me. Good luck on your upcoming season my friend. I hope it is a successful year for you.

I will let you know what I decide. I'll give you a good deal on it if I sell it. I'll PM you after the season once I'm tagged out (hopefully) and see if you still want it. Good luck to you as well!! Oklahoma is good hunting!!
